Not sure how how 2 steps and a dunk is traveling. Hanner did exactly the right thing there.

This is how I saw it:

 

1. Hanner catches the ball with his left foot firmly on the ground.

2. He takes one big step, establishing his right foot as his pivot.

3. He takes another step with his left foot, clearly lifting his right foot off the ground prior to his jump towards the basket.

 

It was 2 steps, but it was still a travel.  That said, this call is almost never made on fast breaks any more.  Any referees out there may feel free to correct my interpretation of the play.

Players are allowed to take 2 steps prior to taking a shot so I'm not sure how that qualifies as a travel if you agree that it was only 2 steps.

In Wisky - that was an illegal formation, with a technical foul for a player standing up on the bench and a travel

It's the migration of the NBA way of calling things into the college game.  It's technically a travel by the rules, but it is never called in the NBA and rarely called in college ball anymore.  As long as its called universally across games, I have no problem with it.  But if randomly, they call it in an important game, i'll be pissed.

Its supposed to be the ball on the floor before the 2 steps.  Again, this is managed very loosely on the fast break play though.

As a high school referee, That is a travel all day every day. The ball must be released before the second step hits the floor.

Pretty sure I've heard announcers talk about it being 2 steps prior to shot when catching in motion.  I know I've definitely seen that exact thing numerous times in college basketball without a whistle from the refs.  Of course, refs don't always get it right.
