Neither our we if XJ doesn’t come back. I have nightmares of drawing Baylor in the tourney and them pressuring us.

I love what Baylor has and wouldn't want to play them regardless of what team they play.   That said, it's not really from a pressure standpoint.  That turn teams over but aren't all that great about taking care of the ball themselves.  But they have three guys that can score at three levels and distribute as well and just had a pretty important big man come back four games ago.

Ohio State fire Holtmann and hire Beard?

I think Beard's road back will be at a lower destination before he moves on to a better job.  Anyway, Holtmann's contract is an albatross right now after extending him last year and making it fully guaranteed.  I can't imagine Holtmann being gone at the end of the year even if they wanted to.

I feel Ohio State has the money if they want to.. Morals? Lol. They loved Urban Meyer.

Ohio State's first priority is and always will be football, though.

Holtmann's buyout from Ohio State would be $20 million, so we are talking about a buyout that is twice what Archie Miller's was.  The fact that Holtmann was extended last year would say that he isn't going to be bought out from any or his past results.  Pretty hard to pony up $20 million to pay someone not to coach based on a single season.

Speaking of Ohio St., they have too many guys playing AAU ball.  Sensabaugh and Sueing constantly go 1 on 5.  Nobody seems to want to pass the ball.  Likekele serves no purpose on the floor.

That's funny you say that because Hummel said the same thing last night on the Iowa/OSU game. He said the game looked like a summer AAU game.

What amazes me is that Holtmann has allowed them to play that way.  That says something.

This is the first year that Holtmann failed to make the tournament at Ohio State.

He’ll get one more year.

Every OSU fan I personally know want him gone now.  I think that's hilarious because at the time of his hiring the narrative was he didn't want the IU job because of the pressure of it.  Now OSU fans want him gone for missing the tournament once lol

Nearly all of the buyout clauses have an offset when that coach gets another job. Holtman most certainly would get another job. So technically it could be $20M but that's very unlikely.

Seems like he's made the mistake that many coaches make when they jump to a higher profile program. He is going after talent instead of fit, and then just letting them play.

I've felt like he has been a little over-rated, but mostly due to his lack of success in the tournament. This year has definitely been different.

I have gone from thinking he was underrated to properly rated. I used to think the lack of tourney success was bad luck, hiding a better-than-reputation coach. Still think there’s some bad luck but his teams annually get worse from about mid-January on.

He’s also been somewhat unlucky: last year Branham was off draft radars but played his way from a 2- or 3-year college career into a 1st round draft pick, this year it’s happening with Sensabaugh. The Zed Key injury has tanked their defense…but IU’s had worse injury luck and survived it.
