The tide has definitely shifted for this year

We gotta beat them for them to be afraid. Whether anyone here likes it or not, no one right now is scared of Indiana because everyone in the league has beaten Indiana and beaten up on Indiana. But, the dudes on this roster have to use that to their benefit as a chip on their shoulder.

As an IU fan I prefer to say, “ The tide has shifted.”

If the distinction is the longevity of said shift …..I would agree with your preference …it’s a delicate balance hoping our freshman are two or three year players …if so we are headed in a great direction

I admit I was pretty disappointed when Kaufman chose PU over IU. It's starting to look like he might not be as good as advertised and not as big of a miss as I thought. Instead of having an immediate impact he red shirted last year. This year he's coming off the bench and was only 8th in minutes played in their first game. He still has a lot of time to improve, but that certainly takes away the sting of missing on him.

People here (really Hoosiers in general) tend to vastly overrate players from the state of Indiana because they think their zip codes make them better than the rest of the country.  It confounds me.

I hear you but I don't really think that was the case here. He was a top 50 recruit and I think at one point he was ranked somewhere 30-35 so even people outside of Indiana thought highly of his skills. Didn't he also when Indiana POY his junior year? Anyways, he's not turning into the difference maker he was thought to be as a recruit. Certainly not an immediate impact type player regardless of whether or not he turns into a good college player.

I understand why Kaufman didn't want to play for Archie, but the Purdue call was/is baffling to me.  The last Purdue forward (or big for that matter) to see any level of success in the NBA was Carl Landry...drafted 15 years ago.  Purdue makes sense for giants and others like Furst who lack the athleticism and range to make it to the league, because Painter plays to their strengths.  I wish Kaufman luck, but first redshirting and then not starting in year two?  Ouch!

Definitely an odd move. Not many top 50 kids want to red shirt

Trey Kaufman was Mr Basketball.  Anthony Leal was Mr Basketball in Indiana too.  Kristian Lander was on track to be if he didn't reclass.

I know that means a lot to some people, but I think it's vastly overrated.

Kaufman was also Gatorade POY his junior year. The only player in IN to ever do that. He was never Mr. Basketball since Furst beat him out for that award. Mr. Basketball and GPOY don't guarantee that the player will be great at the next level but over it's history it is a pretty good indicator. These awards, much like rankings, aren't the be-all and end-all of determining success at the collegiate level but they are decent indicators. They're correct more often than they're wrong.

I disagree that Lander would have won Mr. Basketball.

I guess you're trying to say you knew all along that Kaufman wouldn't have an immediate impact in college?

I'm in agreement with you.  I watched several of his high school games and IMO he just never seemed to really stand out or dominate.  And, geography was not in his favor when it came to getting publicity and statewide attention.

I don’t see anyone trumping Furst with the consecutive title runs and the domination he had during the runs ….lander staying wouldn’t have gotten them into state title contention and old fart is right he was geographically disadvantaged

Wright st over  Davidson right now by 13 with 17 min to go.  Sisleys older brother plays for Wright st now transferred from Evansville

iupui/Drake tipping off

game of the night is probably Louisville/Bellarmine at 9 on ACC network

Chances Bellarmine wins that?

Pretty good I would think.  Louisville lost to a D2 team already and only beat Chaminade by 7 both in exhibition play   I think it will be close

I'd guess that if Lander had stayed, he probably wouldn't have finished higher than 4th in the Mr. Basketball voting. I think that the top 3 of Furst, Kaufman, and Brown would've been the same.

Agreed neither of them  were moving out of their slot
