Solid home win for the fighting Peter Jok's over instate rival Iowa St.  Continuing on the theme, helps the B1G.  At one point, a few games ago, Iowa and St. John's were the only major programs with losing records.  (I'm 90% sure on this stat but it would have been another team besides St. John's)

I think Iowa can be pretty decent by the time February arrives.  They're really young and can score the ball, but rely a lot on Jok and a freshman PG is always a crap shoot.  However the defense has been pretty bad (which can probably be said about 70% of the teams in America).  Once Cook returns, they'll be dangerous though.

With the exception of 2 years if Indiana States bball history, I have paid little to no attention to them. I see where the nickname Trees comes from, but its a surprise to me to see the name used.

I can guess most of you know the 2 seasons I reference.

Ahh yes, the golden years of 1946-48 under John Wooden.

Carlton Bragg of KU arrested for domestic violence against a family member.
Not only is the crime a huge issue, but since he's from Ohio, I'm curious about his family member's employment while living in central Kansas.

The NCAA is NOT curious, at all. In fact, they would rather not have the issue investigated.

Apparently "family member" could include any household member, i.e; live-in girlfriend.

That would make this a very bad personal issue for Bragg, but not a KU "his mama got a sweetheart job deal in Kansas" program issue.

I have a friend who knows Bragg's girlfriend and they don't live together, thankfully

Is this kid worth a roster spot at IU.  He'd have to sit out a year but would be eligible in Jan. 2018 I believe.

St. John’s sophomore Yankuba Sima will transfer from St. John’s.

The 6-foot-11 center has been granted his release from the men’s basketball program and has received permission to speak with other NCAA Division I programs.

“I want to thank the coaching staff and the administration for all of their support since I arrived at St. John’s,” said Sima. “I enjoyed my experience at St. John’s, but right now I feel it is best for me to explore options that will be a better fit for me as I work toward my goals.”

“We wish Yankuba the best of luck,” said head coach Chris Mullin. “I know this wasn’t an easy decision for him, but we respect and understand it. He’s a good basketball player and a good person with a bright future ahead.”

Sima chose St. John’s in April 2015 over Louisville and others.

Sima started 18 of 24 appearances as a freshman last season, averaging 7.6 points and a team-high 5.9 rebounds per game. The Girona, Spain native ranked second in the Big Esat with 2.5 blocks per contest and his 60 rejections were the ninth-most for a single season in program history.

Starting eight of 10 games this season, Sima has a 6.0 scoring average, shooting 44.7 percent (21-47 FG) from the field and 72.0 percent (18-25 FT) at the line to go with 3.5 rebounds per game. Sima set season-highs with 12 points and seven rebounds versus Michigan State on Nov. 23 at the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Looks like definitely a good player.

If he's a culture fit and interested, I would hope we take a look at him.  Sucks he'd have to sit out next year though.
