Favorite Part of IU BBall Gameday Experience

Recommended Posts

For me it's the whole pregame experience. I go to the game before all my friends before a lot of people enter.. shortly after the gates open. For a lot of people it's not a big deal but I'm a historian I love places with history so a place like this is really something awesome to me. I love the smell when I walk in I love how empty it is upon entering knowing that the place will be a mad house soon enough. I go to my seat and sit by myself and just take it all in. Man what a place. Just remembering all the greats that have been on that floor and the pregame intro video gives me chills. I'm a Dukie at heart but DAMN the IU game day experience is something special.

I'm the same way. I like getting there when I can count the number of people in the seats. I'm going to go extra early and explore before a game sometime this year. See what kind of places I can find that I probably shouldn't.

I was thinking of putting up the same thing.  Some of my best memories in life and some of the best talks I have ever had with my dad took place traveling up 37 to B'town.  Even as an adult that hasn't changed.  He might have to sit this season out due to  starting chemo soon, but he insists I get his tickets as well as mine because he is planning on going unless he just can't make it.

Jones, I really hope you and your dad can make the trip together again soon...thoughts and prayers for you both...

me and my father have shared many great memories together on the way to Bloomington and I sure hope you get more

trips with yours as well... Godspeed.

Best if luck to you and your father Jones.

This kind of ties into one if my favorite game day experiences. Talking to compete strangers at games and realizing how similar our childhood experiences were. In the driveway, sun, rain, or snow counting down 3-2- shit goes up 1. Indiana wins, Indiana wins...

One of the few things I miss about Indiana.

Thanks, dude.  The prognosis is very good.  He just may not feel like making the trip too much this year depending on how long the treatments go on.  He won't know until he starts them, so he is still holding out hope he'll get to make a few games.

all of you music aficionados will appreciate this...

how about the last song of the night...by the pep band... win or lose...

they play Sing Sing Sing... in the version of  Benny Goodwin a la 1920's extraordinaire..

I always stick around to listen to that after the game and to see who else appreciates it...

edit... link for those that leave games early...http://youtu.be/fhyhP_5VfKM

BubbleKnuts---I use 69 too and it sure is the fastest route from the Evansville area---- but when I want to go scenic--I still like the old 37 route.

How much time does 69 cut off your trip to Bloomington? I've haven't been any farther north than Oakland City on it.
