IU foreign trip to Montreal

Recommended Posts

Wow that's fantastic!  could you elaborate?  They going up there to play a game? against who?

My only source is a functioning Twitter account. Peegs has it on their premium account I believe. Anyone care to assist?

A foreign trip usually consists of multiple games. That can literally range from 2-6, I would say. They will probably be up there for about a week, just to get some experience and gel together as a team. It will be a good learning experience for all of them. Will also allow them to play together and learn each other's habits before practice truly starts.

For a comparison and likely plan for the trip, I looked up Butler's Australia trip from last year. Looks like they were there for 9 total days and played 4 games against various professional teams.

I was initially concerned when it came out that we were looking at doing an overseas/foreign trip, however this seems to be the best possible solution. Teams that travel excessively are not typically successful teams (especially when done early in the season, no source to cite offhand, however I know it exists somewhere) due to the added stress from travel and its influence on the ability of teams to train, practice, and adjust early on. By doing this in August, it provides us an opportunity to face real competition early on and, ideally, understand what kind of team we are under real conditions. It will ideallly force our team to work even harder over the summer and develop in their role sooner than they would otherwise. Further, it should raise our recruiting profile in a growing recruiting region (or you know, entire country), all without the expense of practice time and long trips early in the season.

Glass and Crean deserve an early A+ for this one.

Excellent move... early action for the freshmen, and the team gets a head start on working and playing together. Boosts team morale taking a trip like that, plus they will play presumably talented teams. Probably get at least 3-4 games in while they are up there.

Best part is that teams taking foreign trips can start practice before everyone else!

May be able to stream the games. I like this move for all of the points mentioned already. The team can bond, learn to gel on the court, and play quality competition early.

Does anybody know when basketball players move in to the dorms?
U of L took a trip a couple of years ago that was televised by local TV. I believe it was in Canada. I'd love for maybe the BTN to work something out, but I doubt it happens. I'd settle for Fisch tagging along and getting a radio broadcast.
We need to make I <3 (no homo) Fisch T-shirts. Dude is a GREAT commentator. Says just enough to keep you engaged without ticking you off like say, dickie V. It's also great that he LOVES IU and gets excited about big plays for us still without sounding ridiculously biased. Oh, best thing yet, he does NOT sound like a redneck.
