Hollowell & Etherington transferring..

They had less unknowns as us. He wanted to play. It's near home. It made sense then.

Agree with your take I was being sarcastic since if winning and going to the tournament were his goals staying at IU was his better option.  With the benefit of hindsight he did both of those at GWU but no way anyone would've taken that bet last April when he transferred that GWU would have a better season than IU.

I think the playing time and close to home aspect was the reason not so he could win and go to tournament.

Moreover, GW was NOT a better team than IU this past season, even though we laid a big turd at times.

We had wins over four top 20 teams, and our worst losses were Penn State, Purdue, and Northwestern. It is reasonable to argue that GW would not have been favored on a neutral court against any of the teams which constituted our three worst losses.

Not really. I realize everyone doesn't like computer rankings, but just for quick purposes, George Washington was ranked 47th by Pomeroy this season. On a neutral court, they would have been favored over half of the teams in the Big 10 that were ranked below them. To be specific, that would be Illinois, Minnesota, Penn State, Northwestern, Purdue and us. Vegas might not have seen it the same way, but Vegas isn't really based on who is the better team.

I fully concur with the point you are making...I just don't believe the Pomeroy conclusion is true.

GW was a very, very solid team this year. They beat Creighton on a neutral court, won at Maryland and Georgia. They also managed fairly well in their conference. And its safe to say that an 8 seed in the NCAA tournament is better than not even making the NIT. Although, IU's potential was clearly better than theirs but Crean once again failed to get the most out of the TEAM. The only thing worthwhile he's done at IU is develop certain players (victor, Vonleh).

I just checked GW's record for the past year. They had NO bad losses.

I stand corrected!   :scratchhead:

It was definitely since Crean has been here...if you're sure it wasn't Scouts then I can't remember what board it was.

Yeah, we lived over there for a while.  Most of the mods that were there before the exodus are here.  Some are at HSN.  There was a guy who claimed to hear about a recruit who ultimately ended up at Memphis.  The Kyrie Irving situation.  That was about as close to inside info as I ever seen on that board.  The Kyrie Irving situation was pretty common knowledge on every board though.  So not sure man.

Damn Dukie lol.  Roshown McCleod told him to go to Duke when he worked for IU.  IU was in great shape at the time.  Then they were eliminated quickly out of nowhere.  Oh, and there is this interview from Crean after McCleod was let go by ITH.

To be fair, I'm not sure anyone but about 4 people know what really went on in that in-home, but this is not the only story out there.

Jalen Kendrick was the recruit but can't remember the posters name.
