Hollowell & Etherington transferring..

Recommended Posts

It is mind blowing to me that every single walk-on (I think) has left the program. I don't know where the blame should go, but wow.

I have no idea how many left but IndyStar listed Marlin transferring to a non-division 1 school and Fagan staying at IU but dropping off the team to concentrate on his studies.

I was just basing that off the few comments above mine. I had heard that Calomeris was gone and Fagan and Marlin were announced. Regardless, that is a lot of players wanting a change. Not even counting the scholarship guys leaving.

Along with some walkons walking off we have two largely ineffective scholarship guys transferring and a guy going for the money in the NBA. I'm not by any means saying that all is well but maybe it's not as horrible as some make it out to be. They may be right but it's kind of early to make that judgement just yet. I'm not concerned about walkons who never get to see the court dropping out. A guy going for the NBA money whom we all knew was likely one and done isn't a concern either. The two other guys, one has been in the dog house for his own missteps and the other is getting his degree and wants more playing time that he'll never get here. Is that crisis worthy? Maybe it isn't, I don't know. [/quote]

I pretty much agree with everything you just said. I'm looking at it as: it isn't "who" is transferring, it's the sheer number of guys that are. On the court, this causes very few problems. It just makes you wonder about problems off the court if there are "mass defections" that were correctly predicted weeks ago. If the problems are because of the rumors floating around on here, I would've left too. That's the thing that worries me.

I guess with me I don't put a ton of faith in internet rumors. Sometimes they're true, sometimes they aren't. Our crack mod staff confirms some of them I guess, I'm just not sure which ones and how they know. That's not saying they're wrong. I just can't put much faith in anything I read on a forum until it's been confirmed by an independent news source. Been burned too many times over the years.

Not sure if they all are transferring, Marlin is for sure, seems one other mentioned leaving the team to focus on acedemics(med school), not sure about the other.  Someone mentioned earlier that CTC was hard on them at a team meeting and they didn't like it.

Poor kids. A coach was hard on them? Maybe it's because they played like Jaybob

Think about this ..look at the picture and who is returning , one is hurt and has to stay for rehab. Now look who is left..IMO it has to do with the cultural climate, favoritism, (some get by with talking back and breaking rules) and disorganization. Again this is my opinion.. These boys are well trained enough to move on and not say anything bad about the program publicly. Sent from the gym using BtownBanners

Again, one guy leaving for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$ in the NBA. We all knew that was going to happen. Another guy has been in trouble pretty much his entire time at IU. Not real surprising there. Guy three is getting his degree in three years and is going the grad student transfer route to get more playing time. He was also scared to take a wide open shot when that was what he was supposed to be there for. Now, maybe there are problems on the team. I don't know. I don't pretend to know. You say you do know. I don't know if you do or not.

I think he's trying to say all the white guys are leaving, Hartman can't because he's hurt.

We're not allowed to know, but just know that there is a story and it's not good.  Don't  worry about specifics just know that there's a not good story surrounding this.

I hate it when that happens!

But don't worry if a guy who may or may not be in the know says players fail drug tests thats totally fair game here.

As far as why three kids decided not to pursue spending hours upon hours of work while not receiving a scholarship or academic help there's a story that we are not privy to.
