Blind Résumés

Tourney is built on upsets, TV Ratings and name recognition. We can argue all day long if that is true or not, but when it comes down to the stretch, if it's IU and School X battling for that last at large spot, Indiana's resume with those wins will allow the committee to put the Hoosiers in over other teams with better records, RPI, SOS. IU has a very good shot at playing in the play in games this year. Can't believe I'm about to say this... I actually hope we play in the Play in Game if we make the tournament. A win there could spark a fire to propel this team forward.

Indiana is a better team than their record. We have a couple mind blowing losses that don't fit this teams build and make up.

Would Indiana even qualify for the play-in games? I thought those are reserved for small conference tournament winners and other mid majors.

It's easy to look at what could have been but I like that we have grown a little the last week. I was proud to see this team close out two tough teams. We have the opportunity, we just have to make the most if it.

Win and we're in. Lose and we're out.
Indiana (Team B, but everyone knew that) has the best record vs RPI top 50 of those teams, but the worst against RPI top 150. The team shot itself in the foot, yet can somehow still save itself. There's a lot of work to do and we need these next two games. It can be done, but it's still a long shot.

You guys are too educated for it to be a completely blind résumé, but A is Tennessee, C is Minnesota (I don't agree with them being in), and D is Nebraska.

I got B, C and D right :)

I stupidly thought a was OSU
Guess we will see this year how much beating better teams is worth to the tournament committee or having a tougher schedule you don't win the games. If we get to 19 wins, I would hope we are in because of the teams we have beat. Unfortunately, beating Nebraska will be a double edge sword. We beat them, and we lessen them. It doesn't do what it should to our RPI. We don't hold an edge on them since we split at home. So, we gain very little. That said, we have a lot to lose if we lose that game. UM on the road does not look good for us. We have not been a good road team. That will probably hold weight in our chances. I am just not a fan of saying our schedule sucked so we should be out. Those other teams did have better schedules, but didn't win any of those games. We beat better teams, and lost to worse teams than them. Depends on how much stock is put into better wins.
Correction: we can compete on the road, but we've had trouble closing games out away from AH. If I remember correctly our only B1G road BLOWOUT loss was at PU.

The only thing I was saying is we are not a good road team.  This team gets rattle easily.  They are young.  Young kids have short memory when things are going well.  I would like to see us on the road now.

The last two Big Conference schools will always be paired as one of those games. NCAA doesn't want to make it look like it's just to weed out smaller schools :)

If Indiana makes the tournament, I can all but guarantee we will be in the play in game. (Unless we win out from here including BTT)

I don't think any of the schools in it last year were from the major conferences.

None were last year, but two years ago there were two (Cal and South Florida)

Unfortunately the RPI and SOS are tools used by the committee, and IU's RPI and SOS are not very good this year.

I was watching a selection show and really didn't understand how every school was rated until then. One, SOS is rated at 33% importance to qualify. If this is the case how could any power conference coach not consider this in the pre conference scheduling. Even though our team is young, Crean did the team a disservice by scheduling too many cupcakes. Two, conferences power ratings are not figured in the selection process. The B1G is one of the two toughest conferences top to bottom so I don't see how this should not warrant more selections.

While I agree 100% that our non-con is a joke, as far as this year goes, I'm not sure that having a tough non-con would have been a good thing. We might have ended up completely out of the bubble conversation, especially considering we aren't very close to it right now. (I think someone mentioned this earlier on here.)

It was crazy there last year. It literally was half and half IU and Ohio State.
