Oh TV Ted what a surprise NOT

Recommended Posts

Cincinnati’s game vs. UConn was one that the Bearcats needed to have to feel better about its chances of at least a share of the first American Athletic Conference championship.

No wonder then, that Bearcats coach Mick Cronin was fired up about a questionable out-of-bounds call that went against his team midway through the second half.

Cronin believed that the ball went off UConn’s Shabazz Napier on the play in question, and when official Ted Valentine ruled otherwise, Cronin fumed. Valentine, who has a reputation for being combative, got into the Cronin’s face to argue his point.

The exchange got so heated that Justin Jackson stepped in to push his coach away. Other Bearcats players also stepped in to help, and Cronin even pushed one of his assistants out of the way in anger.

“I don’t appreciate people getting in my face,” Cronin said of Valentine, per a report from the Cincinnati Enquirer. “Where I come from, you don’t jump in somebody’s face. He apologized. He thought I was coming at him. I wasn’t. I’ve got nothing but respect for Ted. He’s a great official. I’m glad that he’s in our league because he wasn’t in in the Big East. So we have no excuse. But I don’t see people doing that to Rick Pitino.”

Cincinnati lost 51-45 courtesy of a disastrous offensive showing. The Huskies double-teamed the Bearcats’ top two scorers, Sean Kilpatrick and Justin Jackson, and none of the other Cincinnati players could step up. Kilpatrick was 4-for-16 from the floor, and Jackson 0-for-3.

With Louisville's loss to Memphis later Saturday, Cincinnati remains tied for the AAC lead. Both teams have huge games in the middle of next week, with

The Bearcats welcome Memphis to Cincinnati on Thursday in another huge game.

What surprised me on the whole thing seeing the video is the ESPN announcers PRAISING TV Ted for walking away.  What?  He got up in the coaches face so fast I thought he was going to deck him!

Dakich absolutely TRASHED TV Ted about this during the MSU-Illini game yesterday. Said he's lucky Cronin didn't deck him and that he can't understand why people say Ted is a great ref because he's not even a good ref. LOL.

Say what you will about DD, but he nailed this one.

Ted is such a tool. I wish Cronin would've jacked him. Sure, he would've been suspended a few games, but I don't think it would be too bad considering Ted jumped at him first.

It's ESPN.  They think David Ortiz is a Hall of Famer that never once used steroids, and used Mariano Rivera's last game against the Red Sox as a way to celebrate the Red Sox.

He's aspires to be a mediocre ref.  He's flat out awful.

He'd get suspended on principle of hitting a ref, but they'd probably understand in this case because who hasn't wanted to deck TV Ted.
