Now tell me why it is you guys have to gang up on someone when they voice displeasure with your constant criticism? It seems like you guys should be able to just brush it off, after all I'm guessing that's what you think the players should do. [/quote]

Where did anyone gang up? Lmao.

I am brushing it off. I'm sitting here relaxed, enjoying a nicely Ketchup/mustard covered hotdog (hold the relish) and watching basketball. Tonight I will lay my head down and sleep without the slightest bit of worry about what's said on a message board.

Goat, my first instinct was to also use a few Idioms and tell you to "put a sock in it." But looking at the idioms you posted in the context of your sentence - Head in the Sand & Rainbows...only made me laugh.

Let's examine the logic in your statement, "Sticking your head in the sand and pretending everything is fine doesn't do any good either."

I propose you come up with what is GOOD. Good meaning positive feedback. After all, you are the one that said it.

"Make no bones about it", Fans are meant to be a positive support. So I'm going to "go that extra mile" and "give you the benefit of the doubt" that you're still learning the true meaning of an IU fan. First, learn the Value of being a Loyal Fan.

"The Ball is in your court", Goat....Send something, anything, just one thing that is POSITIVE. Come on..."You can do it!"

Actual Definition of Fan: An ENTHUSIASTIC admirer or follower. (Merriam Dictionary.com)

The value of being a Loyal fan? What does that even mean. Isn't a loyal fan someone who roots for the team/program no matter what? Neither Dalton nor JS have said anything close to telling people to stop rooting for IU, or they aren't rooting for IU.

The word fan derived from the word fanatic, the definition you gave was more accurate for the word fanatic. Also, that doesn't take into account that definitions are open to the interpretation of everyone, you don't always just go with what is in the dictionary.

That's exactly what a loyal fan is, it also doesn't mean you can't be critical.  People can look at my posting history and see that I've said good things about this team and coach.  The team has talent (enough talent to make the tourney, and youth is no longer an excuse), the freshman have potential, Crean is good at certain aspects of being a coach, I've said all of those things on this board.  Anyone that knows me will tell you I'm loyal to IU.

I'm not even going to respond to that other poster.  Someone with only two posts questioning if I'm a loyal fan doesn't warrant a response.

Honestly Crean is about the only one I've overly criticized but I've also complimented when he's done good. I've always complimented his recruiting also. Ive never once bad mouthed a player aside from saying so and so is playing like crap tonight like pretty much every poster here has done at some point. Like you my criticism of the team has nothing to do with "not being a fan" or anything like that. My criticism stems from me expecting more. My criticism may not be to anyone's liking, but my love for IU Athletics is unquestionable. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
