(2014) SF Josh Cunningham to Bradley

We are talking about separate events. The booing of Crean's sub patterns/players and a separate claim by ND Kendrick that things were being shouted and heard by the players ON Indianas bench. Directed towards individuals.
I have no problem with booing Creans crazy sub patterns but malicious things should not be shouted to college ball players.

Two different games.

If that's the case my apologies to Hwy 1.

What's the classy way to try and distract your opponent during free throws? Or is silence the polite answer?

just yelling I suppose!  that's just my opinion though, think the fat heads are a bit over-doing it.  Funny though haha.

I couldn't even get students to yell consistently when I was there. If they aren't in GA or behind the basket our fans can be super lame.

"Stand up old people"

I was an alum by then, but I will say I was there for truly terrible years. I get back for a couple of games a year and it's been true every time though. Students stand up, and then sit down. They're as bad as old people these days. I was down and on the edge by the students for the Michigan game this year and the crowd was terrible. All the students we quiet and sitting down. I had a student tell ME to sit down. One of the lowest energy games I've ever attended and we WON!

Heck, last year someone made fun of me for making noise during free throws--"you think that really makes a difference?"

at least it sounds like the fans are really loud when watching on TV...   I can't imagine how quiet it gets at Rupp Arena when the Cats aren't doing their best, you can hear crickets on their broadcast!

haha we need to get that chant going, so hilarious.

I don't think making noise during free throws makes any difference at all actually, but who knows, probably the best bet would be to change it up on every shot haha, give them something they won't expect to hear.

And there were games, like Wisconsin, where we we created the best atmosphere in college basketball. Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet.

I've been to almost every game since the 2010-2011 season, and this year was not as impressive fan wise this year but was still way better than most programs. And there were games, like Wisconsin, where we we created the best atmosphere in college basketball.

I'm willing to accept that a big part of it is that I'm spoiled. Much of my family went to Duke and UNC where I was first exposed to live basketball (plus being in College Park in 2002), so the idea of a dispassionate fan base is totally alien to me. It just confuses me that people wouldn't constantly be going crazy for their teams.

Then, I went to Indiana and well, we've all been in Assembly Hall during a game right?

Where was I even going with this? Oh yeah, the point is, I expect a lot from my crowds. Rowdy and loud in a totally dominant way. I want to hear metal ringing as people bang on bars and see paint chips raining from the balcony. That's Assembly Hall to be, and that's what it should be every time I walk in. Most of all when we're beating a top 5 team!

I was there for the Wisco game too (tickets are cheap when no one expects to win) and it was great, awesome excited environment. Then students rushed the court and Indiana was accused of being too excited. We sure tempered that down. I don't know about other games, but I can tell you the Michigan game was awful. If we hadn't won it would have been one of my worst basketball experiences. The crowd was listless at best. The people behind the basket were SITTING DOWN on free throws and sort of swinging the big heads lazily.

We need to fix that before we can expect consistent cheering that takes actual work. Varied chants would be awesome, especially if they were school specific. OSU (father-in-law's fault I know) has tons of chants, so does Michigan. We have... none. Studies show that doesn't something during free throws is probably better than nothing.

Do you really think it matters to the kid going out on the floor what someone on a message board says about who was getting booed? The kids walked out on the floor and booing occurred. To that kid he's getting booed on his own court. It was a classless act by the fans no matter what their intentions may or may not have been. Regardless the intention, the kid was getting booed by his own fans. You can say it was on Crean's sub pattern but the bottom line is the boos were because a certain kid was put on the floor instead of another. The kid in the end is getting booed by his own fans. There's simply no way around that and saying you were booing Crean not the kid is only making yourself feel better. It doesn't help the walkon who busts his ass in practice and was thrown into the fire.

No excuse for it. None at all.

Classless act with emphasis!

That's because they haven't seen the down years. We lived the dark days of the beginning of Crean's tenure. We knew how big UK was. Those two seasons with Cody were louder than any stadium I have ever been in for every game. Students now don't appreciate what it truly means to be at rock bottom and see your team climb from the ashes

Of Note the Yum center is one of the worst venues for fan involvement.

Pretty good summary of where Cunningham was at  as of two days ago from an Illinois guy...

"This has been a hot question of late. And this has been an extremely tough and difficult decision for Josh Cunningham. That reason alone is why it’s taken so long. And when you have such a wide variety of finalists that offer so many different things, there is quite a bit to dissect.

I did check in on his recruitment and was told it’s still very much back and forth as recently as April 21.  Bradley, the school that has been on Cunningham the longest, has ties to the Morgan Park senior and those around him. He would be an absolute great get and steal for coach Geno Ford if Cunningham stays home and plays in the Missouri Valley, where his size and athleticism can play at a different level in the MVC.

But your Hoosiers, Riley Red, are right there. They've done a good job, along with South Carolina and, a late darkhorse, St. John’s, in making a late run at one of the top unsigned players in the country.

This one really is too close to call. "
