Brownsburg running back Toks Akinribade got the first of what he hopes will be several scholarship offers last week. The junior-to-be said the Indiana University coaches told him if he had a great team camp, they would offer him. "I worked pretty hard and they offered me the second day (of the three-day camp)," Akinribade said.

Akinribade plans to attend a camp at Ohio State in July.

He rushed for 1,073 yards on 178 carries and nine touchdowns for the Bulldogs (3-7). He rushed for around 900 yards as a freshman.

Joining Akinribade as a returnee in Brownsburg's backfield is sophomore-to-be Hunter Johnson, who started last season. The 6-2 1/2 pro-style quarterback has no offers but is garnering attention from several schools, including Notre Dame, IU, Cincinnati, Northwestern and Ohio State.

Akinribade moved into the Brownsburg starting lineup early in his freshman season and rushed for 908 yards and 13 touchdowns in helping the Bulldogs win a conference championship in one of the state’s toughest leagues. Last fall, Brownsburg struggled but Akinribade still produced 1,073 yards and nine scores.

“He’s learning to be vocal,” Comer said. “He’s been a man in the weight room anyway, and he’s bigger than he’s ever been. He’s starting to take that leadership role, and talking more and more and more. He’s learned. He’s grown up.”

“He’s very physical and he makes a very pronounced cut if you will, he’ll get vertical quickly and then a cut back,” Comer said of Akinribade’s running style. “He’s been in a flexbone for a couple years where he’s had to stick his face in there, make one cut and try and make someone miss. Now he’s a little deeper. Now we’re in the pistol and he’s got vision. It’s been interesting to watch him progress.”

Akinribade was back at Indiana last weekend and says he doesn’t have any future visits scheduled.

Brownsburg (Ind) High trio 2016 RB Toks Akinribade, 2016 WR Tyler Kirtz & 2015 LS Owen Gilbert visited #IUFB Tuesday: http://indiana.247sports.com/Bolt/Brownsburg-Teammates-Back-In-Bloomington-32053561

The Hoosiers are the early team to beat for the 6-foot, 210-pound Akinribade, who earned his offer in camp during the summer. At the same camp, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Kirtz also impressed and is firmly on the IU radar moving forward. Gilbert remains on the board for a potential scholarship in 2015.

Toks Akinribade ran a 4.34 40 on hand time. 10-1 broad jump.

The Hoosiers like Brownsburg (Ind.) High running back Toks Akinribade on offense and defense (linebacker). Iowa is also one of the several schools to extend an early scholarship and they’re hoping to get him to campus soon.

Decision could be coming next month for 3-star Brownsburg (Ind.) RB Toks Akinribade - http://www.scout.com/college/football/recruiting/story/1554362 …

Akinribade has not officially trimmed his list of schools, but there are a few that have registered as strong contenders.

"I don't have a concrete list, but I have a couple of schools that I like right now," Akinribade said. "Michigan, Iowa, Indiana, Cincinnati and Boston College."

Akinribade will camp at Michigan on June 13, Notre Dame on June 19 and Tennessee on the 20th. A decision could come not long after his visit to see the Volunteers.
