Semi related, so I’m working out in my office bldg gym, and the gym is playing German easy listening- soft pop… Why!! Who the H works out to German soft pop??

Maybe you actual players around here knew what a Chapman Stick was. I did not. Can’t get over the purity of the tone. Incredible. What a pleasure to listen to.

As a guitar guy I'll say I like the two-Telecaster guitar sound. I have the same black/silver Tele as the guy on the right (along with a Strat). Single coil pickup but has excellent range, great guitar, see it in rock but also across a range of genres.

I thought that I saw Samanth Fish play the stick.  But I can't verify it.  She did play her cigar box guitar, though.  Wracking my brain for who I saw play the stick.    Hmmm...

Alright, the day has gotten miles better. Just bought tickets to see the great Bob Mould doing a solo electric show on the 22nd at a wonderful little venue called Delmar Hall. Seats maybe 500 and has spectacular sound. Dude is sixty couple and still one of the true bada$$es in music. Great, great songwriter. Smoking guitarist. Relentless iconoclast. Love that guy. An all-time favorite.

Sort of fun primer list if someone wants to dig into punk a bit but not too deep. A little pat, and calling Nevermind a punk album almost negates the whole thing, but it gets major kudos for including the debut Bad Brains album, which is a stone killer. Seriously, Bad Brains’ 1st 3 albums are as good as anyone’s.

Despite every British artist pretty much ever going on about how great Rory Gallagher was, I’d never listened to a note of the guy. No reason, just hadn’t. For lack of anything better to listen to this weekend I busted out 2 of his albums, Tattoo and Top Priority. Oh my God, what a bada$$. Unbelievable player. Great tone, Fantastic songs. Right in my wheelhouse. I am so pi$$ed off right now that I could have been listening to this guy for the last 40 years. My freaking loss. Supposedly he was an all time live guy and he’s got 2 live albums that I will wear out this weekend.

Great guitars, great songwriting, great production. Three excellent albums and then broke apart and went to crap. Bless you Randy California!
