Breathtaking playing by 2 guys who make it look like they’re barely even trying and anyone could do it. Home Jersey 1 Quote

Demo Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Happy birthday to the great, great Thurston Moore. Just 40 years of making searing music. Sonic Youth. Great solo catalog. A million oddball collabs. Just straight up an artist. Side note: Also part of one of my favorite weird little things in music. He collaborated on a version of The Ramones’ “Sheena is a Punk Rocker” that to me is better than the original because it’s a real live smokin’ punk song. But the thing is, it’s not actually a song. It’s like 90 secs of a song done for some tv show and never released as the whole thing. But it’s a killer. Stuhoo 1 Quote

Demo Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Ok, this is why as great and useful and convenient as Spotify or Apple Music or those sorts of platforms are, and other than shamelessly screwing artists they absolutely are, this is why radio can never ever go away. Driving along and out of nowhere some great song you haven’t heard in an age and may have never thought of again pops up and you hear those 1st few notes and just bust out “F—- Yeah” as your turning it up. That is 1 of the hands down best feelings in the world and streaming just can’t replicate that sensation. Needless to say, this song did that for me today. Awesome. And it then begs the question: what was the last song that popped out of nowhere and gave you that little charge and maybe took you back to a place and time? Stuhoo and Muskie plays the four 2 Quote

Music& Audio I've got one from this afternoon. Apologies Demo, but it popped up in my gazillion song Spotify library shuffle while I was at work and I started to do a little happy chair dance. I have no idea what the words mean, and it doesn't matter one little bit! Miriam Makeba singing Pata Pata is a complete joyous occasion: Dave from Dayton and Demo 1 1 Quote

Demo Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Happy Birthday to Chuck D. Undeniably important artist and just a smart, insightful dude. Never viewed rappers as musicians, more as poets, because the music always felt so secondary to the message. But Fear of a Black Planet is the only rap album I’ve ever owned because the entire thing is so cohesive. And big respect for Chuck because some of the things he was saying back in the day forced me to rethink some stuff. Can’t ask for more from an artist than that. Stuhoo 1 Quote

Stuhoo Posted August 3 Posted August 3 The “This Could Be Texas” album by English Teacher is incredible. just incredible. For you old fuggers that are listening to the same stuff you did in high school? Feels like it was influenced by Poly-Styrene, Joy Division, The Beatles, and Liz Phair… all at once. Play this album; you’ll be glad you did: Demo 1 Quote

Demo Posted August 5 Posted August 5 RIP to Glen Hansard, who passed in a motorcycle accident over the weekend. Irish singer/songwriter and incredibly influential in the folk and folk-adjacent world. Was a musician’s musician and just beloved in the music world both for his talent and from all indications being 1 of the best guys ever. Stuhoo 1 Quote
Demo Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Happy 125th birthday to Louis Armstrong. Because most people only know him from “What a Wonderful World” or some picture from his later years with some big stupid grin on his face his musical importance is pretty much completely lost. No, Armstrong was legitimately great and had his fingers all over blues and jazz and, by extension, rock and roll. Those genres would be quite literally different had that guy not lived. Demo Posted Sunday at 03:35 AM Posted Sunday at 03:35 AM I have a hard and fast rule that I don’t go to geriatric rocker shows. Almost never not depressing. Make 1 exception: the great Bob Mould. Husker Du. Sugar. Solo. 40+ years of making incredible music. Has never taken a backward step. Love him. Today came across this very cool just out little 20 min doc on the creation of Sugar. Turns out they’re going out for a short reunion tour. That is happy-making beyond words and an absolute must do. Closest it gets to me is 10/21 in Nashville, TN. Will be there with bells on. Completely cringe-worthy. Sadly, one of the great Americana singers ever was Turrible Turrible. Still had some power behind her voice but off pitch and no emotional phrasing; just kinda screaming, even in ballads. sadness Mould is awesome and someday will expire still awesome— I guess Mould is like old blues men; great guitarists can last forever, but singers almost always use their instrument. And Sugar and Husker Du basically always used his lead vocals as a background instrument. Demo 1 Quote
