Indiana vs. Oakland Post-Game Thread

Recommended Posts

For once, I have to agree with you Charlie. He's weak. I don't care if he played good defense or got rebounds or whatever. He was supposed to be our driving force on offense this year, but he's not worth a crap. The crowd wanted Sheehey out of the game by the way they reacted to each shot that got stuffed at the rim. He needs a spot on the bench.

Shame on you. Will has not had enough offensive production for your liking? Fine.

Not a good post IMO.

Yeah, I have been saying he should come off of the bench for a while now.  It didn't work 2 years ago when they tried it, and it isn't working now.  He just has trouble getting into the game when he starts.  I will agree there.

Add one more to Charlie's list!

Jeremy,

Yogi,

Hanner,

WIll

I also assume that he doesn't think PJ, Collin, or Austin are ready for prime time. IU Charlie is gonna be rooting for only two or three rotation Hoosiers that he thinks are worth his time pretty soon.

talk about me all you want, but you never mention if I'm wrong...

As everyone should, this is not the year to play like this.

Well sure, but I expect more from fellow posters as well but it doesn't mean I'm going to get it. Matter of fact I often don't. With some you just have to give up on them because it's a lost cause. Maybe I should spend all my posting time bashing them because they are under-performing? Just a thought.

You're wrong.

-Yogi is our best outside shooter, a great kid, a leader, a very good on ball defender, and through his talent, skill, and quickness constantly draws defensive attention away from other players.

-Will is our on court and at-practice leader, and was instrumental in establishing the work ethic that has improved Every. Single. Player. at IU. He's also a very savvy offensive player, and a plus defender. He hasn't shot well for a week or two? Oh well.

Jeremy and Hanner are immensely talented players who have only been in the rotation for about 6 weeks in their IU careers, and are improving every month. They will be championship-caliber rotation players by the end of  their junior years, if not earlier.

It's absolutely your prerogative to keep slamming all four of them, but

YOU.

ARE.

WRONG.

Those aren't even close to being the same, please stop.

The only thing I have ever bashed Yogi for are taking bad shots (which he has been better about as of late) and his poor assist numbers.

On to Sheehey: Cool he has a great work ethic... Too bad he has been ass on the court this entire year, he can't shoot, he gets blocked at the rim or by the rim at least once a game, can't create shots for himself.

Jeremy and Hanner: Jeremy will have one good game then 3 bad ones, he has been playing somewhat better as of late. Hanner is lost on defense every game, he doesn't understand rotations at all.

Those kids were both highly ranked recruits, they should be contributing more than they are. I understand it takes time but they make the same mistakes over and over again.

Your damn right Will Sheehey's work ethic, leadership skills, defense, and court spacing are cool. I'm not sure why in the world you would think it's ok to be condescending toward a player who excels in those attributes.

As for the others, your expectations for players who are far less than halfway through their IU bball careers are completely unrealistic.

Some people on these boards thought Hanner was an early entry candidate, or even a 1 and done... I just hoped he would contribute when he got here. And how exactly has Will been spacing the floor this year? He is shooting 20% from 3.

A player's ability to properly space the floor has NOTHING to do with his three point shooting stroke.

Some people on "these boards" thought that HP was a one-and-done? And you believed them? They were wrong, and you were naive and gullible.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hint for next year: James Blackmon Jr. is not a one-and-done, Robert Johnson is not an early entry candidate, and Max Hoetzel is not likely to be a rotation player until his junior year. You heard it here first, and it's true.

This is where I disagree. Hoetzel will be a one and done top 5 pick.

Where did I say I believed them?

Just re-watched the first half. Haven't seen anything to criticize Will over. He got some really bad feeds under the basket early on. Been all over Bader on D. Pretty much how I remembered the game last night as I watched it live.

Round two with the second half coming up. I'll be on the look out for reasons to bash Will. I'm sure he won't have a perfect half so maybe I'm just too easy.

Nothing to criticize him over? Did you not see him getting destroyed at/by the rim twice?

Out off all the things you have said, this is by far the most stupid. First off, you are ONLY bashing Yogi for his shot selection and number of assists. Hate to break it to you, but you are basically bashing on half his offense right there.

Alright, everyone on this board should knows Will is a streaky shooter. Example? Evan was trying to beat Will's record of 9-9 from the field. He is just in a slump right now and he will get out of it. Also, Will is the second best at trying to create his own shot behind Yogi, but Will just lets the game come to him and doesn't have to create his own shot.

You claim Hanner is lost on the defensive end. You must have not been paying attention in the game against NF, I think, where he had a huge block and then made a huge dunk on the following possession.

Jeremy in the last two games has played very solid with limited mistakes. And that is all we need from him at this year.
