Rapid Reaction IU vs UConn

Recommended Posts

I think CTC has made some strides. I was one of the many ripping him for poor in game adjustments last year but when you have the players he did last year you almost have to rely on the leaders to make those adjustments and adapt to the game. This year, at least in the last two games, I thought CTC has done a much better job being an in game coach which will be necessary with this younger team.

Exactly.  Coach drew up a great play to end the first half, but people ripped him for it.  The play was designed for get JH an open look, and it was right there.  Unfortunately JH missed it.  Coach Crean has gotten better, and it helps because this team is more his style.  Last year had no true depth outside of Sheehey.  This year, we have Gordon, Davis, Hanner (improved greatly since last year), Fischer, Hartman, Robinson, and Etherington (sorry if I missed someone).  Coach can be more creative with his line-ups with what's working and what's not.  It was difficult to do that last year.

I was really impressed with IU's effort. Yogi was obviously playing on tired legs after playing so many minutes the night before. His spring in his jump shot just wasn't quite the same. Vonleh had zero contribution. And yet we played a top 20 team to one point in Madison Square Garden with a bunch of freshmen and sophomores, none of whom were really at the tops of their games. I look at this as a positive. If we can push UConn to the wire with a chance to win, we can play with anybody. For a rebuilding year, that's a heck of a statement. And as this team gets better, and it will, it could be in the hunt for something good in March.

Davis reminded me of Adrian Dantley with his "always in the right place to score in the middle of a mess." He was in Vonleh's shoes with fouls the night before. Williams followed a brilliant night with an off night. Guess what? Freshmen do that. But once they have 20 games under their belts, they won't be those green kids they are now, particularly when the competition toughens.

Yeah, losing sucks, but I found a LOT of cause for optimism in the loss as well as the impressive W over Washington.

Why did Remy leave?

Backup point is a serious need for this team.

I think he wanted to start. No way he'd do that here.

In all seriousness I would like him over Jeremy.

Oh. Never heard that news. If true, I'm glad he left.

Yeah, it is true.  They stewed on it and came to the decision.  Remy's mom tried talking the staff out of it with no luck.  Crean didn't drag Remy through the mud on this one.  It was a bad mistake, but after everything this program went through we have to be somewhat superficial.  Completely agree with you.

You can but I'm taking hollowell over him any day. Back up pg was Remy's actual position and he made the exact same plays hollowell does. By the end of the season you will be glad to have hollowell as the back up point.
