Indiana vs Chicago St. Post Game Thread.

This was the first time I have got to see Devin Davis play and I was impressed.  Sneak and smart, a great combination.  I don't see him ever being a star, but he will have a solid four years in Bloomington.

The key to the universe this year is defense.  We will only be as good overall as we're good defensively (I hope that makes sense to someone besides me).

Davis could be a beast mode player down low for sure

fun to watch all the new guys step out

pretty strange stat lines tho

62 total rebounds (probably the most rebounds since walt bellamy played)

basically 0 assists to 20 turnovers

ft's much better tonite

basically 0 3pt

13 blks - yeh

not as worried when our #1 big racks up the fouls because our #2 and #3 can play too.  hanner is spider man out there, and luke is cody 2.0.  I like luke's game a lot.  if we have to go to #4, he is 7'0" and he will scare you just by looking down at you and  introducing himself, by name.  he should be in the running for #4-big-man-of-the-year this year

we still don't know how to beat a zone of any kind

looked better getting the ball inside tonite

Box score I'm looking at says 68 rebounds. That's with 6 team rebounds. Vonleh a double-double, and Sheehey and Devin Davis (who CTC is going to have to "Crean" because he wasn't a highly rated recruit and will never see the floor at IU) were both a rebound shy of a double-double. Six players in double figures. Eight assists versus 19 turnovers, plenty to work on there. 13 blocks is awesome.  45-55 (82%) free throw shooting is spectacular.

The couple of other things that pop out from the box score is that Hollowell was the leading scorer, and Gordon scored a efficient 8 point. I don't expect to see Hollowell lead the scoring often, but it definitely shows a different player than last year. Lets see how he deals with adversity in tough games. If Gordon can drop in a few points with that efficiency, handle the point when needed, and provide senior leadership, he will be a major factor in how far IU goes this year. Just my post-game thoughts.
