(2015) PG Harrison Niego to IU

Recommended Posts

If Perea or jurkin were even decently coachable they would be off to the pros by now as a first round pick, bc of their size and athleticism

You think they aren't in the pros because of a lack of coachability?

How about the problem being a lack of talent instead?

Just because someone is tall and athletic doesn't mean they are a 1st round pick in the NBA. There are literally thousands of basketball players that re tall and athletic that are playing in the D league or playing someone else in the world. Jurkin has been hurt since his sophomore/junior year of high school. He just had bad knees/legs. Perea has all the athletic ability in the world, but doesn't seem to have the self motivation to use it to the full extent. The coaches can do all they can with kids, but if the players don't work on their own time and have the desire to be the best they can be, they will achieve nothing.

Not saying he'd be in the NBA right now, but in Hanner's case Coach Crean has said that he didn't work very hard his first two years at IU. That's an aspect of not being coachable.

Does Niego have a nickname?  We have to give him one--right?

How about ---Baby Jordy---since he said he likes Hulls' game!

Or---Niego  El Fuego!

Roll with it Hoosier Nation!

I actually seen a particular scout give Niego a direct comparison to Jordy. said IU got a 6'2" version of Jordan Hulls. Of course I got excited.

I can agree with you, but I still think a lack of talent is his biggest problem. I'm hard pressed to think of another Big Ten team he would start for.

Agree, though if he had actually put the work in...who know? VO would look like a lot different player if he didn't work his butt off.

OK, the poster that said Jurkin and Hanner would be NBA 1st rd draft picks if they were decently coachable is way off, " I agree."
But Hanner really doesn't get enough credit IMO. If we play Hanner beside a true 5 like TB he would be a freak this coming season, I guarantee it!
I would go as far as saying he would be the best Power 4 in the B1G hands down. Now that being said I don't think we will see a lot with Creans coaching. Playing small ball and loving stretch 4's it would be out of his comfort zone offensively.
So Hanner will most likely back up TB at the 5.
We will be deep and talented. I know Crean will experiment, but I think this team's best lineup next season is:
1 Yogi
2 JBJ
3 Troy
4 Hanner
5 TB
