Noyan is surprising me; she is becoming steadily far more effective. Much needed good news for a team that lacks defensive size. She’s also a much better screener than Z.

Right now she’s the most effective player off of the bench and it’s not especially close.

Stotjin can’t hit. Misses everything she shoots. Besides that she looks the part. Caffey proving the freshman jump is real. I think she’ll steady as the year progresses. Beaumont, Shay, and Z carrying the load.

Team always competes and is a joy to watch.

However, Gonna get stomped by conference elite this season though, imo.

A few post-game comments

Lenée Beaumont, postgame, said she feels like her mid-range shot has improved a lot since she got to IU. And she said she watched a lot of Grace Berger film in working on that — "religiously, honestly."

Indiana women's basketball coach Teri Moren: "It's a problem for us right now" on averaging 20+ fouls per game, says it's a tough balance, she wants team to be aggressive, but needs them to more disciplined

Indiana women's basketball coach Teri Moren: "I've been bitter" since losing to Butler last season, "I didn't like how we played, I didn't like how we reacted to the loss, and for first time in a really long time....I felt like we were starting to pull apart as a team"

Teri Moren about Maya Makalusky, and Teri referenced Beaumont's comment about watching film of Grace Berger, and said Makalusky should do the same of Sydney Parrish for her defensive intensity and overall impact aside from her shooting.

Not saying T. Moren is unhappy with Makalusky, but rather is challenging Maya that she cannot be a defensive liability (rather a defensive asset), and is wanting more effort in her game.  T. Moren is challenging Makalusky to impact game in positive ways as season moves along (there is opportunity because IU Ladies need all the help they can get).  T. Moren referred to this is not high school while referring to this is college level.

It will be interesting to how Makalusky responds as a freshman and how or if she will match or be effective in T. Moren system.

Highlighting this comment as it's exactly what we're seeing -- a more aggressive (and faster paced) women's team that leads to fouling, at least early on. They'll improve in reducing fouls as they learn to be "more disciplined" and to play at this pace.
