Kid is playing much better than that 3 star ranking. What’s the level of competition he is playing against? I haven’t been keeping up on high school recruiting as much as I used to.

Pretty much as good as you can play short of playing at 1 of the Prep factories. At City of Palms they’ve played Wheeler, which may be the best program in Georgia and has 3 HM kids including Colben Landrew who’s going to UConn, and Garfield Heights, which has Marcus Johnson who’s a top 50 kid going to South Carolina after de committing from Ohio State. Also, McNamara plays in the DC Catholic League which year in/year is as good a conference as there is in the country. Paul VI, DeMatha, Bishop O’Connell, there are a million D1 kids in that league. Moody’s doing it against real kids.

Adam Finkelstein just put out a story on what he called his 2 biggest stock risers at the City of Palms Classic and Moody is one of his picks.  Paywalled but commented his shot form has improved and not being expected to play PG as he did last year has helped elevate his overall game.  Thinks Moody clearly deserves a top 100 ranking.

Moody's final game at the City of Palms event vs. Long Island Lutheranb starts at 12:40 today and available:

Yeah, the shot. It wasn’t a problem before but sometime between the end of EYBL and now that kid found a shooting coach. Stroke looks great.

In the Jordan Holiday Classic, Bish. McNamara was beaten 72-50 by Link Academy.  McNamara was without its leading scorer and arguably best player Qayden Samuels out with an injury.  Link was the more athletic team and McNamara's bigs were woefully inadequate against Link's bigs.  Moody finished with 19p,  5r,  2a,  0s,  0b,  4t.

They play again tomorrow at 3:15 against St. Xavier (KY) which features IU offer Josh Lindsay.

In their final game at the Jordan Holiday Classic, McNamara defeated St. Xavier (KY) 58-55 but they did nearly their best to give the game away.  A series of 4th Q mental lapses and careless mistakes coupled with St. X press had the game tied with 7 sec. left.  Moody got the inbounds pass, drove the length and was fouled at the rim with 1.3 left.  He missed the first but made the second.  On the St. X inbounds, the player launched an overhand throw that had too much arc and hit a roof support so McNamara gets the ball back and Moody throws up a shot at the buzzer that went in for the 3-point win.  The coach should make their big center #10 walk back to Maryland.  Twice in the 4th Q he felt possessed to run to the 3-point line and foul the shooter.  Bad enough to do it today when the team was on the ropes, but he did it twice in yesterday's game against Link Academy.
