(2026) - F Caleb Gaskins

Recommended Posts

IU has offered 6'8' Caleb Gaskins from Miami, FL. 5*, 247 composite #12. I've seen him listed as a SF and a PF but his twitter account says G.

I don't know if this is behind a paywall or not: https://247sports.com/college/indiana/article/indiana-basketball-recruiting-5-star-class-of-2026-forward-caleb-gaskins-lands-indiana-scholarship-offer-christopher-columbus-nightrydas-249661794/

Was at Montverde as a Soph sitting behind McNeely, Queen and that bunch and then transferred to Columbus and played last year with the Boozer twins. Looks some like Jayson Tatum in HS. Great frame. 3 level scoring potential. Will be interesting to see how he reacts next year to being a #1 option because up to now he hasn’t been.

IMO as someone that’s written these kinds of articles for basketball and football targets in a “past life”… don’t give writers that much credit, lol. Recruitment articles are fairly formulaic. Probably just a writing style thing… nothing to be gleaned from that IMO.

That's probably a good way to take it. I feel there isn't really any reason to get one's hopes up at this point in the recruitment, which has just started. When it gets close to a commitment and IU is still in the mix? Maybe then would be a good time.

Considering this guy is coming up on his senior season, IU is starting in quite a hole. I imagine in many of these initial recruitments it may be hard to get much traction and there is lots of ground to make up. NIL can help but with that being equal (or close to), then relationships will likely win out.

That said, the line you're referring to is really just a fact giving one.

Not if Rod Clark has already been the lead recruiter for them.

Gonna assume that it is no coincidence that these two kids tweeted their gratefulness at IU offers within days of Coach Clark's announcement.

That’s the key.  How deep is the relationship already established between our new offers and our new coaching staff?  If it’s already pretty good we’ll be ok  in the ‘26 recruiting cycle.

Tennessee isn't on Gaskins list, so it doesn't look like he was already recruiting him.

For Davion, Kenny Johnson is the lead recruiter and I also don't see UT on his list.

I don't see GT on either list.

Okay ... then Kenny has the long-standing relationship; either with the player, the agent, or the AAU program.

This. Is. Good.

Probably, but it works both ways. If a top 10ish type kid has, ya know, 5 offers going into his Senior year, unless it’s a Flagg-type situation where there’s no question where they’re going that should provoke a whole different set of questions.

DeAndre Ayton one recent example
