Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 21, 2025 Posted February 21, 2025 Memo to IUWBB: Keep the hammer down and stay focused on 1 game at a time. The Spartans (19-7) (9-6) are 11-2 at home and have lost their last 2, both on a west coast road trip. They average 81 ppg with a +18 scoring margin and shoot 34% on 3s averaging 7 made/game. They have a +2 rebounding margin. They force 23 TOs/gm and 13 steals so once again, we've got to protect the ball. 3 players average in double figures with Grace VanSlooten and Julia Ayrault both at 15.4/gm. Ayrault is a 34% 3-point shooter. Ayrault is also MSU's leading rebounder at 7.6 followed by VanSlooten at 6.9/gm. Next Thursday we're back in Bloomington to host Maryland and the following Sunday a re-match with PUke in West Laffy which ends our regular season. Radio Live Stats LamarCheeks 1 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted February 21, 2025 Posted February 21, 2025 There are 24 hours in a day and seven days in a week -- and the B1G can't find two two-hour windows during that span that don't overlap for our basketball teams? Men tip off at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The women play at 2. WayneFleekHoosier, Pagoda, HoosierHoopster and 1 other 3 1 Quote
TTT Posted February 22, 2025 Posted February 22, 2025 After home game this is relatively short one game trip and IU Ladies should be rested ok. IU Ladies need to travel with their A game. Actually, on the road (even at Assembly Hall) IU Ladies haven’t been that far off usually running out of gas and losing leads towards the end after stumbling out of the gate at start of season has resulted in losses that were very winnable games. Claxdj01 Posted February 22, 2025 Posted February 22, 2025 (edited) Live in northern Indiana, Lansing isn’t much farther than Bloomington for me. Scored a half court row 1 seat for $25. Going to feel like spike lee lol Edited February 22, 2025 by Claxdj01 Todd41, LamarCheeks and Class of '66 Old Fart 3 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 23, 2025 Author Posted February 23, 2025 15-10 Spartan lead after 1. 4-15 FG and 1-6 on 3s with 5 TOs. Not a recipe to get a road win. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 23, 2025 Author Posted February 23, 2025 32-24 MSU at the half. We're just 10-30 FG and 2-11 on 3s. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 23, 2025 Author Posted February 23, 2025 50-38 after 3. Women just can't chip away at the lead. Live by the 3; die by the 3. We're just 2-15 today. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 23, 2025 Author Posted February 23, 2025 Final score 73-65. Women cut it to 59-55 with a little over 3 min. left but couldn't get any closer. Thursday night we host Maryland and next Sunday regular season wraps up in West Laffy. Quote
LamarCheeks Posted February 23, 2025 Posted February 23, 2025 Trimmed a big lead down to 4 with 3:30 or so left. Got MSU to miss, but they grabbed the rebound, then hit a 3. That was pretty much our last chance. When I flipped over from the men to take a gander, it was 57-43. When I switched over after the men, Syd had just made a 3 to make it 59-55. So we showed some spunk in coming back, just couldn't get over the ... hump (sorry, I had to say it). Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote
TTT Posted February 23, 2025 Posted February 23, 2025 Just now, TTT said: IU Ladies head case…. Get physical on home court….It seems for most teams (it’s that home court advantage. Michigan State green and spartan makes everything look different, and crowd….plus for MSU and a negative for IU = win for Michigan State. Same thing with IU win over OSU. (Both games shooting and rebounding or lack there of) Quote
Aaron Posted February 24, 2025 Posted February 24, 2025 Would have been a great bonus game to have but changes IU's postseason outlook very little. Still an 8-10 seed in NCAA's and a high quad one road loss will do nothing to hurt the resume. Would be great to get the next two, but as long as they get Purdue they are very safely in tourney regardless. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

A win today or against Michigan state provides a chance at a 5. Now 9-12. This team when they can make their shots Can beat anyone, usc or ucla. When they aren’t hitting, can lose to anyone Edited February 28, 2025 by Claxdj01 Quote
