And Risedorph implodes in the 5th and Maryland scores 6 more runs on a BB, 3 singles, a double and 2 HBP.  Hoosiers didn't  have anyone warming up and got caught unprepared for how quickly Risedorph's game collapsed.  Burton took over with runners on 2nd and 3rd and just 1 out.  A sac fly scores another Terp run but Burton gets us out of the inning.   But it will be very difficult for us to overcome a 10-1 deficit.

The team is making lemonade out of lemons this year with only one starting pitcher essentially. There is a reason they lose Friday and then come back strong the rest of the weekend. They have pitching depth which wins you later in the weekend but no ace which is what you need to win a series opener. What has happened almost all year is no accident and I expect it to continue the rest of the season.

Hoosiers need to find a second legit starter for next season. However, for now they are doing the best they can with the hand dealt and as a result things have played out exactly how you would expect in a series all year.

Maryland just knocked the shite out of us today winning 16-2.

Maryland scored 9 runs in the 8th - 4 coming on a grand slam HR off Phillips.  To add insult to injury, they hit another HR in the 9th --  their 4th of the game.  They've just manhandled our pitching staff with 12 hits last night and 20 in today's game.   10 of the 20 were for extra bases --  6 doubles and 4 HRs.

Can't say I'm looking forward to Sunday's game.

Young team. Not time to panic. However, the dream of a Bloomington Regional probably died today. Staying in contention for a Big Ten Title rests on tomorrow. Going to NCAA's still is contingent upon not slipping against the bad teams coming up in next seven games after tomorrow. Finish 6-1 in that stretch and you should be OK.
