Don't like that Friday matchup and not having a true ace will kill them against Brecht who can throw 100 mph for his fastball and might be best arm in conference. My prediction: IU gets beat pretty big tomorrow but wins Saturday and Sunday.

Iowa batting in the 4th leading 3-0.  They scored a run in the 1st after Seiler hit a batter, a Pyne error and an RBI  single.  In the 4th, Seiler was pulled for Ey after walking a batter and then hitting a batter.  Ey gave up a single to the first batter he faced loading the bases and another single scored 2 more Iowa runs.  Another walk re-loaded the bases with 2 outs but a FC ended the Iowa threat.

Hoosiers are hitless against Brecht and Aaron commented that Brecht's 90 mph change-up was equal to Seiler's fastball.  Brecht has thrown 46 pitches in 3 innings.

Peter Serruto has thrown 2 runners out at 2nd.

7-1 Iowa takes the first game of the weekend series.

We had no answer for Iowa pitching.  Brecht went 7 innings and only allowed 2 hits and struck out 7.   Henderson closed it out and we only got  2 hits off him and he struck out 6 in his 2 innings.  5 IU pitchers gave up 9 hits, walked 4 and hit 3 batters.  We committed 2 errors that led to 2 Iowa runs.

You saw what I said earlier in thread and tonight was the first of that.

Brecht is a first round draft pick with Aroldis Chapman like speeds and no one can hit him. Bad luck facing two elite arms in a row with Hollycross of ISU on Tuesday and Brecht tonight. Finally get someone who has struggled tomorrow and offense should be able to get back on track as a result.

Quite the pitching duel.  Sinnard went 6 innings giving up 3 hits, no BB and struckout 12.  Threw 94 pitches facing 22 batters.  Ryan Kraft takes over to start the 7th.

Morgan went 5 innings with 1 hit, 3 BB and 8 strikeouts.  Threw 79  pitches to 18 batters.  Voelker took over to start the 6th.

Iowa batting in the 7th and Ryan Kraft just picked an Iowa runner off first base.

One of the things about baseball that always amazes me is how a team can collectively stop hitting, especially after a game where they just went crazy. 22 runs in the final game at Penn State last weekend, 1 run in 25 innings since.

Iowa leads 1-0 after 3 complete.  Manase started on the mound and struggled from the start giving up a first inning run and was pulled in the second for Yoho after putting 2 Iowa runners on base.

We've hit into 7 rally killing double plays in this Iowa series.  4 of them already today and it's just the 4th inning.

Minny leads 1-0 after 6 complete.

In the Minny 5th a failed IU double play attempt put runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out who then advanced on a wild pitch.  Yoho got a strikeout and a ground out to end the inning with no damage done.

We loaded the bases with 2 outs in the 6th but a Pyne ground out ended the inning.   We're 0-11 with runners on base today and we've left 7 on base.
