The most depressing sports moment occurred in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich when members of the Israeli Olympic team were murdered.

For me? High School. Mooresville Class of '93. Any, and I mean ANY, of the Graves boys from White River Valley. Especially Indiana State assistant coach Matthew Graves. We had some damn good basketball teams in 91, 92, and 93. Sectional champs all 3 years. Only to be cut down in regionals by WRV and some form of the Graves boys. Man, we were good, but not good enough!

1993 IU mens basketball. Alan Henderson's injury. He doesn't get hurt? Banner 6 is hanging in the hall, no doubt about it. 

2003. NLCS. The Bartman Ball. 

2004.  Someone mentioned earlier, Reggie getting blocked. That, along with Ron Artest being a dumbass, cost Miller an NBA title. 

Paul George and his leg. Yikes.

Andrew Luck. I remember being at that game when the news broke, and you could feel the energy being sucked out of Lucas Oil.
