Class of '66 Old Fart

2026 General Recruiting Thread (Bball)

I apologize if this isn't the right forum, but are there any sons of former IU players that could be potential recruits?  Other schools seem to get legacy recruits.  This doesn't seem to happen at IU.

I'm not sure how many had sons that were high major caliber. Sean May ended up at UNC, and Bryce Alford played for Steve at UCLA. Kory Alford played for Steve but wasn't good. Brayton Bailey ended up at St. Francis.

From Inside The Hall for the Northwestern game -

The class of 2026 prospects expected to be on campus are Owasso (Oklahoma) wing Jalen Montonati, Upper Arlington (Ohio) forward Alex Smith and Lebanon (Ohio) forward Anthony Thompson.

The 6-foot-7 Montonati is the No. 9 player nationally in the sophomore class according to the 247Composite. He already has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Kansas, Iowa, Kansas State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Tulsa.

Smith is a 6-foot-9 forward who plays for the Midwest Basketball Club with early offers from Toledo, Ohio and Bryant with heavy interest from several other schools. He previously visited Indiana in mid-November.

Thompson is a 6-foot-7 wing with a 7-foot wingspan who plays for Indiana Elite. The lefty has scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Ohio State and several mid-major programs.

Sunday’s game against Northwestern is a 3 p.m. ET tip on FS1.

I've seen a couple of these kids and I keep going back to Sanderson. He really looks like a Jay Wright kinda guard. I feel pretty confident he'll stay in the midwest. If we can land him and Thompson from this class and have a good hook in the 2027 instate crop I'd be ecstatic.
