Live Stats

SETTING THE SCENE
• Indiana routed the Wisconsin Badgers by a final tally of 4-0 on March 11. IU received goals from sophomore midfielder Brett Bebej (2), sophomore forward Herbert Endeley, and redshirt junior midfielder Joe Schmidt. For Bebej, the goals marked the first of his collegiate career.
• Sophomore keeper Roman Celentano recorded his third shutout victory of the season and 11th of his career against the Badgers. He was credited with six saves in the win over Wisconsin. He has allowed one or fewer goals in 17 of his 18 career starts.

• In the program's last 40 Big Ten regular season matches Indiana holds a record of 29-2-9.

LAST TIME OUT
• For just the second time in the last 39 Big Ten regular season matches, Indiana suffered a conference loss. The Hoosiers were blanked in a 1-0 decision against the Northwestern Wildcats in Evanston, Ill. back on Feb. 27.
• The Wildcats found the late winner in the 87th-minute of play when a dangerous cross found the foot of sophomore forward Ugo Achara Jr., who was able to slide the ball through the Indiana defense and into the back of the net.
• The goal was the first goal allowed by sophomore keeper Roman Celentano this season. He opened the season with over 265 minutes (267:31) of shutout play.

• The Spartans have scored three goals in five matches this season, coming from three different sources. Junior midfielder Jack Beck scored a late winner in a 1-0 MSU victory over Penn State, while junior forward Farai Mutatu and sophomore forward Connor George netted tallies in a 2-0 victory over Northwestern the last time Sparty took the pitch.
• Redshirt junior keeper Hunter Morse has started all five matches for MSU and conceded five total goals. He has two shutout victories to his credit this season.

Just want to make sure people understand. This is NOT BTN+ which requires extra $10 month.

Its just BTN televising the game online only. If you have BTN on your cable you can watch online just like you would on TV. No extra money required.

This does not resemble IU soccer in anyway. Much like NW game, IU playing no better than even against a far inferior team. Defense has leaked, possession has not been sharp and MSU is kind of running us in circle.

1-0 MSU 30 min of a corner and quite frankly could be worse. Like against NW I cannot say IU has dominated and gotten unlucky. In past years IU was always the better team but sometimes results fail to show as is typical in soccer. In no game has IU looked like the better team this spring.

This is the same team that won Big Ten last season and was relatively dominant. It is without Penn and Morris which are losses but someone like Bezerra, Endeley, Glass ETC are all still much better than anyone they face and are completely failing to deliver. I have not seen IU play worse than this spring since Mike Freitag era and maybe 2013 when we were under .500 all year.

Cannot explain what's wrong but something needs to change.

Justice in Bloomington! Palozollo called for the worst foul ever for tackling the goalie when he did not as he put ball in of a cross.

Less than a min later. the goal kick ends up at feet of Bezerra who finally looks himself taking out entire MSU defense for shot and tying goal from top of box! 1-1.

The soccer gods gave justice there that was only fair.

IU takes the lead with just under 3 min left! A set piece from almost center field off Endeley being fouled, somehow goes all the way through the box through many players and into the goal. Munie assisted it a bit and is credited with the goal but how it made it through so many bodies is beyond me.

Back no. Better second half yes. They still look like something is missing this spring but are surviving at 4-1 because they have the talent.

Not their best game I have seen but it worked in end. Still a lot of work to do if they want to do special things this spring.

Indiana men's soccer sophomore midfielder Brett Bebej and sophomore goalkeeper Roman Celentano were selected as the Big Ten Offensive and Big Ten Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The honor is the first of the career for Bebej, the second for Celentano, and the first by a Hoosier early in the 2020-21 season.

Bebej turned in a masterful week with five total points, the most in a two-game span of his career, in victories over Wisconsin (4-0) and Michigan State (2-1). The Shorewood, Ill., native registered his first career brace on a pair of restart headers against the Badgers. He also assisted on the 62nd-minute equalizer from sophomore forward Victor Bezerra against the Spartans.

Celentano has been lights out in goal this season, allowing one or fewer goals in all five starts this season. He collected six saves in a shutout of the Badgers late last week. Five of the saves came in the second half. The Naperville, Ill., native returned to action to make one save in his fourth win of the season against the Spartans. In total, Celentano collected seven saves against just one conceded tally in the week.

Bebej, Celentano, and the rest of the No. 9-ranked Hoosier men's soccer team is scheduled to be back on the pitch against Rutgers at 1 p.m. on March 19 in Piscataway, N.J.
