Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Tennessee not quite the same level as its Pat Summitt coached days but a quality opponent nonetheless and a more than adequate replacement for Butler's cancellation. Next up for our Hoosiers is Sunday, December 20 against Nebraska at home. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network. Radio Live Stats ABOUT THE LADY VOLS Picked to finish sixth in the SEC preseason polls, the Lady Vols are 3-1 on the year with its most recent game on Dec. 13 at No. 23 Texas cancelled due to contact tracing within the Longhorn program. They last played on Dec. 10 in a win at home over Furman. They are led by guard/forward junior Rae Burrell who averages 20.5 points per game and senior guard/forward and SEC preseason honoree Reenia who is averaging 9.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. SERIES HISTORY Tennessee leads 1-0 LAST MEETING 11/27/87 – L, 59-91 (Cincinnati, Ohio) NOTES Indiana will be coming off an unexpected 11-day break following the cancellation of the Butler game last week due to COVID-19 protocols within the Bulldog program. The Hoosiers have not played a game since it played at Kentucky on December 6. The Hoosiers will look to rebound the 72-68 loss at then No. 11 Kentucky. Junior guard Grace Berger led the way with 21 points while sophomore forward Mackenzie Holmes posted a double-double with 16 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. Holmes and Berger lead the way in scoring for IU through three games. Holmes is averaging a team-high 18.3 points per game and shooting 72.2 percent from the floor, which ranks second in the Big Ten. Senior guard Jaelynn Penn is one of the nation's leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio this season. Her ratio of 10.0 is 4th in the country as she has committed just one turnover in three games played. The Louisville, Ky. native has handed out 10 assists to help lead the team in that category. mamasa, Todd41, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote
mamasa Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Hope we come out solid, and really hope we get to see (or rather, hear) Nicole Cardano-Hillary! Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 17, 2020 Author Posted December 17, 2020 I'm being fashionably late. What the "H" is going on? 22% shooting in our own gym? Have the ladies already checked out for Christmas? mamasa 1 Quote
Todd41 Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Quick shots off of limited ball movement = poor shooting mamasa 1 Quote
Aaron Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Thoroughly disgusted right now. We look nothing like the Big Ten favorite and are playing lazy. Since the Fourth Qtr. of the UK game we are way underperforming. If we want to get to where we are supposed to go got to play a lot better. This is inexcusable for a veteran team. Also when did they become the Men's team and be unable to hit shots? This has to change. Tennessee is not even playing great and missing easy looks. IU is just completely asleep at the wheel just like 4th qtr. of UK game. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I was a bit surprised to see we were voted the Big Ten favorite. I saw all three of our games with Maryland last year and we looked thoroughly outclassed in all three matchups. Quote
Aaron Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Insane. Can't hit a shot can't defend. Right now they look like a bottom feeder/ Whether they are Big Ten Favorites or not they should be no worse than the top 4 team they were last year and right now they look among the worst teams in the Big Ten. Someone needs to light a fire under this veteran team NOW. This is absolutely inexcusable against a mediocre team. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Dang, 0 for 11 from deep. The men's team thinks that's bad. Edit: 0 for 12 Edit again: 0 for 13 Quote
Aaron Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I hate to say it but if this were Archie's team in this spot as a veteran team people would be asking serious questions about whats wrong? Since when can't this team shoot? Some serious questions need to be asked about why this team looks so awful since 4th qtr. of UK game. There is zero excuse for it and team is capable of a lot more as seen in first three quarters of UK game. This is a veteran team that needs to start playing how it is capable of period. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Finally got a 3 to drop, lucky #14. Quote
Aaron Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Inexcusable for a veteran team. Vols length is bothering us which I get but since when can't this team hit a shot? Serious questions this team needs to answer about this massive underachievement in second half. Unacceptable performance. Period. Todd41 1 Quote
Aaron Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Unbelievable. Vols up 15 now and hitting everything. Raises serious questions about long term viability of program much like Chris Collins who went up and up and suddenly with a veteran team collapsed when they were a favorite. We are big time exposed today and look worse than last yr with EXACT same team. Still time to turn it around but suddenly makes you question if program is on the solid ground we thought or if we are a flash in the pan,. Big questions ahead. Quote
Aaron Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Absolute red flags continue. Little better to close 3rd but still down 6. Still a huge issue against a middle pack SEC team. How do we compete with Maryland, MSU, OSU, Iowa and NW who all have length much like UT but are better. With Moran and this was true last yr also is we play our best on road but have tendency to throw up absolute stinkers sometimes at home and that does not seem to have been fixed. Quote
Aaron Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Timeout UT. Lead down to 1. Iu showing some fight but no excuse to be in this position. Quote
Aaron Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Penn has looked terrific with some great steals and breakaways to get us back and game. Patberg and Holmes look about as bad as I have seen them which is why we are in this precarious position. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Geez, six straight possessions with a chance to take the lead and we came up empty on all six. Quote
Aaron Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Unreal that this has turned into men's team who can't hit shots. Going to be a very disappointing season if something does not change fast. This program now looks shaky. Quote
Aaron Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I understand we may have been overhyped but to look WORSE is absolutely not OK. How many clunkers can we throw at home before someone realizes this program is not turning into the juggernaut we think. Heck right now they look like they could sink right back to bottom of conference. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Hope we can make some noise in conference. Blowing the UK game and now this clunker has really dampened my enthusiasm. Aaron 1 Quote
