Glad to win but we've got to cut out the sloppiness. That starts with obviously Sommer beginning the game on weekdays and no more Brown. That right there is a game changer and will makes us so much more competitive on weekdays. Otherwise pitching rotation used perfectly and it's unlike Bierman to throw so many walks. Its also certainly not Lloyd's fault that our defense on the left side of the infield continues to be less than stellar with the Walker error that kept us from winning in regulation. Also still way to many strikeouts but this PU bullpen is their strong point which makes weekday games against them a lot harder.

I am starting to see some player development I like particularly pitching wise with the vast improvement of Sommer and Saalfrank. Also step forward for Ashley and Barr this year which is a big thing that never happened under old staff. Also clutch hitting and maximizing opportunities continues to be really strong which continued tonight with the Gorski 2 out single and the game winning hit with our backs against the wall. Also love the unlikely hero's in extra's with Sloan shutting down the PU bats in the top of the 9th with 3 K's and Bunnell had the winning hit scoring Van Pelt and neither of these guys started.

So far it seems this year we've traded better situational and clutch hitting along with better player development for worse approach at plate with all the K's and poor fundamentals on D. Probably a wash between all of that and makes us a similar top 5 Big Ten team that will get 2 or 3 seed in someone else's regional in tourney.

Bottom line is no reason to have made tonight so hard but we got the win which is most important and sets us up against a really strong Evansville team this weekend for 4 games. They have a similar RPI so split will do just fine and anything else would be gravy and really help us maybe get an outside chance at hosting a Regional or put us in an even stronger tourney position than we are already.
