Class of '66 Old Fart Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Webber, Gerstenberg Earn Big Ten Weekly Awards Paige Webber's hat trick and Jamie Gerstenberg's shut outs landed the duo Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and Big Ten Freshman of the Week respectively as the conference announced their weekly awards today. Webber came off the bench to score three goals in 42 minutes to help the Hoosiers to a 4-0 victory over Murray State on Sept. 9. Webber became the eighth player in program history to achieve a hat trick and the first since 2013. Webber added an assist on the Hoosiers first goal in a 3-0 win against Kansas State on Sept. 12. Gerstenberg recorded her third straight shout out and sixth of the season in goal for the Hoosiers. Gerstenberg made seven saves over the two matches this week. The Hoosiers have scored 13 goals in their last three matches and have a 17-2 goal advantage over opponents on the season. Gerstenberg is the second Hoosier this season to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Jordyn Levy earned the award on Sept. 7. Hoosiers now 6-2-1 on the year. Next up they'll host Iowa next Thursday evening and remain at home for a Sunday afternoon match against Illinois. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT NIGHT On Thursday the Hoosiers will be hosting international student groups and welcome all to come out to Bill Armstrong Stadium. There will be a pre-match tailgate and post-match autographs with the team. MAKING HISTORY AT NOTRE DAME For the first time in program history the Hoosiers got a result against Notre Dame. On Sunday the Hoosiers and Fighting Irish battled to a 0-0 draw. Previously the Hoosiers were 0-11 all-time against Notre Dame. 2021 SPRING SEASON The 2021 spring season was historic for the Hoosiers. Indiana tied a program record for Big Ten wins and established a new school record for Big Ten points in a season with 19.
