How hard would it be to erect a dome sorta like the RCA domes. This is getting ridiculous

SCHEDULE UPDATE | Saturday’s game has been rained out. We will play the third game of this series on Sunday at 1 p.m.

IU needs to dump whoever is making weather decisions IMMEDIATELY. My best friend is a meteorologist and he has taught me a bit about reading models and interpreting forecasts. There may be a window around 2 or 3pm today to get the game in before the really big rain starts tonight and with our turf field you can play immediately after rain stops with no prep work. Currently rain is supposed to stop around noon tomorrow but with this forecast it could easily stretch to 3 or 4pm in which case it may be too late to get the game in depending on NW's travel schedule.

To put all your eggs in tomorrow’s basket is so risky. It may work but with this forecast set up you absolutely wait until 2 or 3pm and see if you can get the game in and then if not bump it to tomorrow. By calling today off now you are running a very high risk of not playing a game you could have played late this afternoon and then having tomorrow bumped by weather completely and never getting a third game for no reason. It could work out fine as well and forecast is perfect but you never want to count on that. Very poor decision to call of now for today.

Gotcha. Makes sense.. and especially when we have already missed one game and could miss another this weekend with NW.

Tell ya what.. Lemonis has struck gold in the JC ranks with getting Lloyd and Kaletha the last two years, my goodness.

Agreed. Love going the JC ranks in baseball there always seems to be some diamonds in the rough. Without Kaletha, this is a completely different team. He's been incredibly clutch all year and has proven to be a great leadoff hitter. Lloyd is a rare good two way player. I still expect him to really break out offensively and maybe yesterday was the start.

Feel incredibly good for Houston. Another kid who didn't pout over a benching. He was constantly smiling when thrown in late in games, congrats man. You deserved tonight.

Nice to see him stick with it and take advantage of the PT yesterday. It's huge for his confidence. The biggest question still remains when is Luke Miller coming back?  In the meantime, it's nice to see other guys take advantage of the opportunity. It really hasn't cost us yet not having him in the lineup.

Luke was dressed yesterday.. saw him between innings. Idk when he'll come back, but outside of his 7 HRs.. he hasn't been very good. His fielding has been atrocious and his OBP is .310.

As of now, he should be going no where after the season.

I really expected him to take a step up this year. Kind of disappointing and maybe his 'suspension' has something to do with it regarding effort/focus/off field activities, whatever it is. Looking at the stats, Gorski and Finneman have really elevated their games offensively and it looks like Sowers has traded some power for better contact. Lloyd has definitely been better than Miller but I thought he would be around Sowers batting average wise.

Can't believe how good our pitching has been. Ridiculous team ERA.

I never expect good decisions to come from IU's athletic department.

I still haven't figured out why the first Western Illinois game was cancelled.

That bullpen has been nasty.

A couple of numbers on this rainy Sat:

I expect our current FR to have to really step up next year with possible departures coming, but as of now they've performed well:

The group of Dunham, Crail, Walker, Ashley, and Barr has combined for a .290 avg in 162 ABs to go along with 31RBIs. They haven't shown a ton of power, but Gorski hadnt either last year.

Pitching wise the FR (Manous, Sommer, Eaton, Sloan, and Long) have thrown 46.2 innings and given up 9 ER... that's a 1.95ERA.

My phone shows Bloomington is going to get rained on basically all day long. Maybe there is 1.5 hour stretch where we get some clear skies, that's hardly enough time to warm up (even a condensed version) and play a game.

My phones showing 3 hours.

Still best to try and get it in

Thanks for sharing. Future obviously bright beyond this year. Lemonis certainly has some weaknesses but recruiting and identifying talent is not one of them!

Going to assume they can handle it just fine.

Lets see. It could be fine but don't complain tomorrow if its dry from 4pm to 7pm today and we could of played a game and than ends up raining till 4pm tomorrow which is absolutely possible with how the models read right now (it could also rain all but an hour today and stop by 11am tomorrow but forecast is to dicey to just call off in the morning today.)

Idk the logistics of everything, but these types of things have happened before.. have two teams ever decided to play 5 innings one day (or as long as weather permitted) and then the rest the next day? Obviously this would greatly impact pitching.. just curious though. I simply haven't been around CB long enough to know.

The thing is there is a window from 2 to 6pm today to get the whole game in and not a partial game and I almost certain of that now.

Current forecasts have it stopping my 10 am tomorrow as well but the way this is moving you could get a couple pop up showers on the back end of the system flare up late morning and early afternoon that is not currently predicted. Forecasting is so tricky in this situation and you are much better off today when you have a chance. Its a tough decision and everything could very well be fine tomorrow but you are taking a chance of not getting a third game in for no reason by not playing in the afternoon today.

Literally no harm in trying or at least waiting to see I think is the message and I agree completely.

We already lost one game to rain another will make it extremely difficult to win the conference since we don't play Michigan.

At this point a rain out is a loss.
