Should be really excellent watches. Prolific has a million guys, including top 10 ‘27 PG Nasir Anderson, who has an IU offer. Wheeler is always really good and this year they have Colben Landrew, who had an IU offer under the old staff and broke Painter’s heart by picking UConn, Jaron Saulsberry, who’s going to Ole Miss and a ‘27 PG named Kevin Savage with a PU offer.

Yes this was the case…a board members son wasn’t getting to play as much as he thought he should…board took a vote and forced him out by a 4-3 vote….

La Porte Invitational started this afternoon and I'm quite certain all of the games will be available on YouTube.  Vaughan Karvala and Bella Vista play on Saturday and on Sunday.   Times on the schedule are CST.

In one of our IUWBB targets threads I pointed out the huge scoring margins in many of the girls games.  Yesterday there was a game with a half time score of 54-17.  Another 55-4 (not a typo).  Yet another 45-7 (also not a typo).  Thankfully, 2 of the games opened the 3rd Q with running clocks.  The 45-7 game was in Alabama and they don't start a running clock until the 4th Q at which time the score was 64-16!   [I'm positive the Alabama refs started their own 3rd Q running clock by not calling anything except the most blatant fouls.] 

Old Fart's Pet Peeve's

1.  Every state needs a mercy rule and it needs to start in the 3rd Q.

2.  Every state needs a shot clock.  

3.  3-person officiating crew.  One official repeatedly makes the inbounder move to a very precise spot.  Another official in the same crew is okay as long as the inbounder is in the same zip code.

4.  Play-by-play announcer:  OMG we have a violent collision on the court with 2 players down.  Looks like a broken ankle for one and a dislocated elbow plus a bleeding head wound for the other.  The official on the court:  Number 21, I told you to tuck that shirt tail in.

The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association surveyed its members and received 612 responses from roughly 800 boys and girls coaches regarding implementation of a shot clock.  68% said yes and a proposal will be submitted to the IHSAA.  

Make it so IHSAA.  

 

Side note.  Although 68% is a nice percentage, that's just 416 in favor which is basically just 50% of the total number of coaches so certainly not an overwhelming vote of support.

Illinois is dipping its toes in this year before state-wide implementation next year. Everything I’ve heard in my small corner of the world has been positive so far from some holiday tourneys. There’s a learning curve for everyone from the logistics side, but it’s helped the games out a lot.

Watched him at the classic in December. Kid is an absolute problem for his area/competition. Runs well and has great hands. Didn’t know he was an exchange student.

May not be but definitely a Cloverdale move in. I'm out of high school loop anymore can't believe I missed this kid.

Where's the help defense?  High and low.  Nothing there.  No fan of Coach Boling, but his kids let him down.  No way they were coached to leave the lane wide open.  Happy for Alan...but damn.

Here's the question.  Many schools can't get a competent person to work the scoreboard and game clock.   Now we need to find 700+ competent people to run the shot clock, too?   Asking for problems.  Be careful what you wish for.
