Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB Hosts Austin Peay - 12/22 @ 7:00 ET

Recommended Posts

Final non-conference cupcake game of 2016 as the Austin Peay Governors (4-12) visit Assembly Hall. And just who was Austin Peay you ask – he was governor of Tennessee 1923-1927, hence their nickname Governors. Possibly their most famous basketball alum is James “Fly” Williams recruited in 1972 by then assistant coach Leonard Hamilton off the streets of New York. He played 2 years before leaving to play pro ball. As a freshman he averaged 29 PPG, 5th best in the nation. As a sophomore, 27.5 PPG, 3rd best. Even more memorable was the crowd chant of “Fly is open, let’s go Peay” and I’m not making this up!

Yeah, I'm listening to Don via TuneIn tonight. Not paying $10 for 2 hours. Silly how tiny little Rollins College had a free stream to watch the IU women's game. The technology may've set the clock back a couple decades but hey, free is free. Since BTN is half owned by Fox, the games that don't make regular BTN should be available on Fox Sports 2 Go as long as you're a current subscriber.

Our offense has looked ok, but Peay has too many layups and open looks

We threw the ball around the outside until someone shot. Our offense has been garbage. Thankfully RoJo has been hitting. If we stop hitting from outside and don't go inside we could be in a dogfight. We're also giving them easy layups, when DD is out.

To be fair, they were all open shots

Awesome, our 5 man is killing it, on the perimeter. We're 7/12 on threes for an 8 point lead. If we weren't on fire from deep we'd be down. I would feel much better attacking the rim.

Good thing we are in Assembly!
