First time I ever remember pulling so hard for Illinois.

Yep, Injuries are part of the game but I found it a lot less “worrisome”, because of depth, when we lost a RB vs losing a DB.

Illinois is now up 31-17 vs USC with 14:00 to go in the 4th. Does that mean Indiana is good or that both Illinois and USC are bad? If we lose to Iowa I know the answer $ECPN will give.

I agree we should be sure he is ready for Oregon but losing a guy that basically shuts down at least 1/3 of the field is a pretty big deal, especially because our DB depth isn’t a strength of the team.

What a bummer. I assume IU has been mum in regards to his injury/tweak..whatever it is.

Posters have differing opinions but to me Gus has a “big game” voice and enthusiasm. I think he is great compared to announcers like the snooze fest guys that called our game vs Illinois.

4/5 of the ESPN Game Day pickers, all but guest Arrington, picked IU to beat Iowa. Not sure if that is a positive or negative :)

Hate to disagree but it won’t be a long weekend for the $EC mathemagicians. The formula is simple. Alabama lost to a top ten opponent (FSU) so Bama gets bonus points the rest of the season even though they lost. And then tomorrows Bama-Ga game: Georgia is number 5 and Alabama is 17th so if Georgia wins they go to 4th or higher and Bama should rise to 10th or 12th for losing to such a good team. If Alabama wins they go to 4th which means Georgia actually lost to the 4th ranked team (not 17th) so Georgia only falls to 6th.

Well……#8 FSU goes down at UVA in overtime (in regulation FSU scored on 4th and 11 to force the OT). Has zero to do with our game vs Iowa but for some nonsensical reason it makes me nervous about our trip to Iowa.

I’m not sure I would bet on that. I assume several highly productive, proven QB’s will be interested in playing for Cig.

I think we will win by 14 or so but looking forward to seeing how the guys handle the road environment. Glad we have this road game prior to the Oregon road game and think the three game progression of Illini, at Iowa and then at Oregon is beneficial (ie much better than starting the BT season with, as an example, a road game at Oregon).

Glad we drew Caroline as NOTHING is more important, essential or entertaining than the sideline reporter during a game. How did we survive “back in the day” without a sideline reporter insightfully asking a coach, losing by 35, if his defense needs to play better.

Hindsight is 20/20 but our agreement with UVA was perfect for a 9 conference plus 1 P4 game requirement.

I’ll give Tom Allen his props, he is really good at contracts..LOL Was reading a “Will Clemson clean house” article and saw that Allen is in the first year of a three year guaranteed $6,000,000 (roughly 2mm per year) contract. He is unlikely to hit additional cash incentives for making the CFP, having a statistically elite defense etc. If he is let go at the end of the year they will owe him $4,000,000.

wantie in a big way. Composite national ranking of 26th best edge in the country is exactly what we need in the trenches. Has offers from Florida, OSU, ND, PSU, etc etc etc, and is from INDIANAPOLIS. Really want us to regularly land 3 or 4 of the top 6 guys in Indiana. Tired of seeing guys like Finch declare for Alabama.

Hope Illinois beats USC to make our win look better. The added bonus is that it would make ND look worse if they lose to USC.

To say the least….Lubbock is not the most fascinating place on earth. That being said….this year they allegedly have the second highest NIL payroll in the country. I’m guessing there are plenty of kids willing to live there for a year to earn an extra 100,200,300,400K (pick a number). Will that continue and/or payoff??? We shall see.

I hope I’m wrong but PU doesn’t look as hapless as they have the past two years. I’m guessing there will be a “everything went right” game they will win. Needless to say that better not happen (it won’t) against us.

As we know most of the ACC is a joke. UNC isn’t playing Miami or Florida State and their upcoming conference games are: Clemson, Cal, Virginia, Syracuse, Stanford, Wake Forest, Duke, NC State. Plenty of losses for UNC but we would easily run the table on that schedule.
