Agree he is a good coach so my Tom Allen reference wasn’t the best ( ie other teams would hire DeBoer as a HC while that wasn’t the case with Allen). I like DeBoer, and think he is a very good proven head coach, but think he is a poor fit and there will be a buyout out some point (not after this season). Bama’s Saban days of stacking three deep 5 stars, and having the advantage of gobs of illegal under the table money, are long gone.

This is an insane extension. The fan base is already disgruntled and, looking at the schedule, I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose 4 games this season and miss the playoffs. Reminds me of the Tom Allen extension to prevent teams, that were never interested, from poaching him. I like DeBoer but he is a poor fit at Bama and they are going to regret this extension.

100% agree. We have filled a number of needs but an impact wing is essential and remains a glaring hole.

And Rice only shot 36% from the field with more turnovers than assists. Not optimal. Also saw that Mr. Cupps is now at University of Illinois-Chicago which is probably a better fit/level for him.

Yep it was a bummer. If the teams were properly seeded in 2024 (ie not automatically giving a non-power school a home game), as they were this past season, we would have had a home game against Boise State rather than a ND road game. HUGE difference ( and would have been great for Bloomington, the fan base etc).

True that. I googled Indiana BB portal class to see what some of the media was reporting. An old article popped up showing us with the number one portal class with……..Ballo, Rice etc. LOL, LOL. That being said I feel good that DD will get better results with this class.

I agree. The downside, due to past injuries, is huge. It’s also crazy to me that a guy that only started 13/33 games, as a junior, is a $4,000,000 player but “it is what it is”.

Agreed. UCONN was a joke when I was attending IU, and throughout my 20’s, but now……this is their 7th Final Four since the last time IU was in a Final Four. Never, EVER, dreamed that would happen.

There is no way I would use a first round pick on him this year. He is just sort of hanging around as opposed to being an impact player. First round in a year or two….maybe.

As will top portal QB’s which is the one position in which I think Cig heavily prefers proven production over a HS kids promise.
