  1. It’s not a good look but on the other hand…..we had a couple of issues against ODU but things turned out pretty well
  2. I’m not saying it’s not in our best interest to play nobodies but let’s face it….We have backed out of UVA, Louisville and now are not playing ND (no reported “payoff”, which makes me think it was mutual) so the desire/strategy is obviously to play nobody. This season OOC is very weak and next year we have Kennesaw State, Indiana State yet again (boo) and UMass. My guess is that Evansville Memorial must not have been available. I fully acknowledge that I don’t like the OOC schedule but that it probably helps our chances to get to the playoff.
  3. And Cig was the Alabama recruiting coordinator for several years. Would be interesting to give him truth serum to hear the details of what was going on back then. No way that he was clueless.
  4. How much is the pre-season AP poll worth?? 4 of the top 6 in last years AP pre-season poll didn’t even make the playoff (Texas, ND, PSU, Clemson)…. LOL. We were ranked 19th.
  5. I do not like 3 total cupcakes (Howard-really?) but understand the rationale. We have some tough Big Ten games but think it is advantageous how they gradually “scale up” this season. It might have been a bit of a challenge/shock to the system to go from 3 scrimmages (at best) to, as an example, OSU because of the lack of quality snaps vs decent opponents. Starting Big Ten with Northwestern at home and then @Rutgers is a perfect way to get ready for the meat of the schedule.
  6. It’s a HUGE, HUGE stretch but I wish that first digit was an 8 or 9. Instead of a 1, so we could build a new stadium. Back to reality…….is Northwestern the only school to build a new stadium since forever ? I can’t think of another one although a bunch of them have spent a ton on expansion etc
  7. Could not agree more. One of my lasting memories, as a student 100 years ago, is IU being a trendy pick to beat visiting Nebraska but I’ll never forget that on nearly every play their DL moved our OL 5 yards and their OL also crushed our DL (somehow we held them to 69..LOL). We have often had skill players but I never thought we could excel in the trenches to this degree. Just fantastic.
  8. I like seeing the empty space in the far right portion of the case. Let’s fill that puppy up.
  9. “The name” does impact thought processes. I’m old enough to remember when Nebraska was an absolute powerhouse so I still slightly cringe when some think going to Lincoln will be a walk in the park. Ruhle, as an example, hasn’t beaten any good teams but with 85k fans behind them it’s probably going to happen at some point….hopefully not against us.
  10. Out of curiosity I took a look at the 2025 pre-season coaches poll and saw that the top 4 teams were: 1) Texas 2) Penn State 3) Ohio State 4) Clemson 20) Indiana SO…….3/4 of the top four teams didn’t even make the playoff which very clearly illustrates “everything is earned, nothing is given”. Also, fwiw we were first ranked 2nd starting in week 8 (mid-Oct) and held that spot until earning the number 1 spot after beating OSU.
  11. Your post made me look up my undergrad years and I was surprised to see that Lee Corso won 19 (8 were in one season) while I was there. I looked at the seasons a little more carefully and the out of conference games would be considered absolutely nuts these days. Examples: @Nebraska, Utah, @NC State LSU, Miami of Ohio, @ Nebraska (what was the AD thinking ?) 1978 - @LSU (#13), Washington (#15, we beat them!), Nebraska (#12, we held them to 69). THREE games against top 15 teams prior to the conference games starting !!!
  12. Have no idea if IU or ND cancelled the games but do know I wish we would start the season with 2 gimmies and 1 P4 game.
  13. It’s great that all of our new parts were able to get to know each other and participate in a lot of extra practices but from a competition perspective….We didn’t learn much of anything as Sisley, as an example, played against much better completion in HS at Montverde.
  14. Yes they do. As the number one pick Nando got 57.3mm over 4 years while Cooper, as a first round #30 pick, signed for nearly 17.5mm. Pretty quick drop-off. Cooper at 17.5 over 4 years barely exceeds (by 17+ million) what I made in my first 4 years out of college.
  15. A QB with offers from Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, Notre Dame, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Penn State, etc etc seemingly quickly picks IU …!!! Tell me that 4 years ago…LOL
  16. I actually find that very easy to believe….
  17. Not to mention he said we “lucked out” even though we ended the season beating OSU, Bama, Oregon and Miami. Correction: we did not beat Alabama, we ripped out their soul.
  18. What a great get!! I was very afraid our in-state rivals in West Laffy would swoop in and land Sales but Cig prevailed !!
  19. I agree that the late signees are likely to stick but……a little concerned about anyone that goes from unknown/unranked to a 4 star after they commit. Would assume a certain percentage of them would be open to 4* money offers they did not previously receive. We shall see.
  20. I have ZERO idea if Kent Sterling has good sources but he stated he heard the Sales package exceeds $7,000,000 over a three year period. If so….thats absolutely crazy but thank you to whomever ponied up.
  21. Sudfeld played in a total of 6 NFL games, completed a career total of 25 passes, for 188 yards, with 1 TD and 1 INT while earning $12,000,000. 12 million without getting your bell rung multiple times!! Backup QB might be one of the best gigs out there.
  22. I’ll save you some time by predicting they mention Cuban over and over.
  23. Never say never with Cig but I think it’s beyond a longshot to pry a Texas native from a Texas program , TT, that pays a TON of money to DL’s. I’d be interested to know if we are still sniffing around the Indiana 4 star OL player, Caleb Johnson, that committed to MSU. I assume he received a healthy bag but wonder if he will be open to listening to IU once he sees MSU get off to another crappy start. In recruiting terms the December signing day is a long ways away.
  24. The three months in which Gunner was a commitment was a special time. Gunner will always be one of my favorite Hoosiers.
  25. I heard him say that in an interview. One would think that the current market is not sustainable but who knows?? It all depends on how much the market is willing to spend and at this point it isn’t slowing down.
