  1. I have zero doubt that is on his mind and there is a plan (scheme, recruits, etc) If our new coach doesn’t realize the potential post issues with our current lineup, issues that are clear even to internet couch warriors/coaches like us, then we made a massive hiring error.
  2. CJ West gets drafted before S Sanders. Who had that on their bingo card ?
  3. Yep. Knight was absolutely hilarious !?!?!? Nothing funnier than a gay joke. Man, the world is filled with morons.
  4. I’m sorry but comparison that is really funny sh!te. That Villanova team had 7 (SEVEN), yes 7, did I mention SEVEN, guys that were drafted by the NBA.
  5. Think of all the stuff UNC, KU, LSU, Duke, etc got away with while Fordham is in trouble for below. The NCAA is a joke. For instance, on eight occasions the team paid for recruits to enjoy various activities that exceeded the NCAA’s $75 per day limit on entertainment spending. These activities included trips for players and their parents to see the New York Giants, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and U.S. Open sporting events. Lesser violations included paid outings at bowling alleys and an instance in which the team rented jet skis for a recruit. All together, the cost of these various impermissible benefits added up to an approximate total of $10,736.
  6. Wow, It wasn’t all that long ago when it was almost jaw dropping to hear OSU say they needed $20,000,000 for a competitive roster. We have a way to go but it’s good to see the massive jump from 4.5mm to 23mm. Two years ago I would have laughed if someone told me IU football would have over 20mm. Crazy times !
  7. I agree that there are a lot of other variables but at first it appeared his motivation was to go from 2.4mm to the 4mm range. I’m guessing he or his advisors thought his market value would be in the Archie Manning range. I get the difference in SoCal real estate but I doubt that was really a driver. For one thing if he feels he will be in the NFL he probably won’t be in SoCal very long. Also, if SoCal real estate was an interest he still could have made that investment while living and making 2.4mm in TN. The net/net is that he ended up at 1.5 instead of 2.4 but maybe it will still work out better for him. Who knows but in any case 1.5 isn’t a bad consolation prize for a college kid :)
  8. Nico might want to look into different agents/advisors. His advisement team “successfully” negotiated him away from a $2,400,000 deal, with zero state income tax, down to $1,500,000 with most of that being subject to state income tax ranging from 10.3-12.3%. I’d say a commission percentage reduction is in order.
  9. One of the valid arguments prior to NIL was that many of the kids helped drive revenue but couldn’t even afford to get a strom at Nicks. Now we are in a place in which some of those kids could buy Nicks.
  10. Someone posted that a reasonable progression is crawl, walk, run. I’m more in the walk then run camp as we really need to make the tourney our first year. NIL, coach, resources, narrative all point to the need to make the tourney. That being said, to come to the conclusion that we (people that expect to be in the tourney the first year) think DD should be fired, if he doesn’t make the tourney the first year, is hyperbole/mis-characterization/wrong.
  11. The uptick in paychecks this year is crazy. We are probably not far from top 10 quality teams needing $10,000,000 just for the starting lineup.
  12. Entering the portal but with the intention of returning to UNC. ie…..I want a raise $$. I think we will see more and more of that. On two separate podcasts I have heard Todd Leary and Brian Evans both say that in the current environment they would go into the portal every single year to check out market value.
  13. Your question incorrectly assumes there are enforced rules.
  14. I’m dying to hear if RTZ thinks we are going to land Conerway!!
  15. This post is total BS but, . If true, it wouldn’t bother me……….at all
  16. Most of the NCAA teams do not apply as they do not, and cannot, pay the players a ton of dough. They are similar in attendance, pay etc as triple A to MLB. A $8,000,000 a year NBA bench player would not make that money if it wasn’t for the NBA jersey he is wearing (ie just like the college kids wearing an IU jersey). If you think people would shell out hundreds of dollars for tickets, thousands for suites, tv would pay billions (all which enable bench dudes to make 3-10mm a year) to watch those bench players compete against each other outside of the NBA more power to you. I stand by my comment that they are as dependent on the front of the jersey as college kids.
  17. Your “front of the jersey” argument isn’t just college as it applies to 90% of NBA/MLB/NFL etc players.
  18. Your avatar makes it much more challenging to disagree with you :)
  19. UM really seems to be an outlier (which might end up frustrating Dusty). They suspended McDaniel and they have also denied transfers (such as Caleb Love), that are able to find another school in 10 seconds, for academics..
  20. Fine. Agree to disagree. Yes, the NBA benchwarmers are considerably better (not even close) than college kids but they are just as dependent on their “brand” (being a Laker/Pacer/Celtic) as are the college players (IU/UK etc).
  21. I didn’t say it was tough. I think they have it GREAT. Just saying they are essentially pros.
  22. You could say the same thing about most NBA players. Put together a league with 200 non-superstar (but still making 5-10mm) NBA guys, without their Celtic/Laker uniforms, and I’m guessing there would be very little fan interest.
  23. I think so as they are making a ton of money for their craft and I can’t even imagine some of the “3-4 schools in 4 years” guys being in classrooms. Wouldn’t surprise me if some of the schools have a number of players with a very heavy dose of online classes. When is the last time we heard of a player being academically ineligible during the season? Who can blame the players. They are expected to play on multiple week-nights, go on cross country trips and work well over 40 hours a week.
  24. I’d put him above McNeelys 1.5 simply because there seems to be a great deal of wage inflation this off-season. That being said it’s really hard to estimate/guess. Many thought Flagg was in the $2,000,000 range but the WSJ recently published an article stating that Duke finance bro’s came up with $4,800,000 for Flagg. Kind of crazy but who even knows which of those numbers are close.
  25. I caught some flack yesterday for saying it appeared Wilkerson preferred UK but if the above numbers are true it sure seems that way. If we are indeed offering an extra 500k-900k more than UK, and he prefers IU, you would think it would take him 2 seconds to commit to us. If he was torn 50/50 between the two schools, and we offered an extra 500-900k, maybe it would take him 3 seconds to decide. We will see but in any case it looks like we have a lot of irons in the fire right now and I think we will end up with a decent/good team with a much better brand of offense. EDIT: all of this is a guessing game but a very positive scenario would be that Livingston really wants to win and is delaying to see if it looks like we are going to land other talented guys. As always…who knows
