I also don’t understand why people think Michigan will be that good but they should have a good record. I just looked at their schedule and of the best BT teams (at least from a pre-season perspective) - PSU, Ohio State, Oregon, Illinois, Indiana - Michigan only plays Ohio State. Only 1 of the top 5 teams!

I’m positive (LOL) that SEC pundits will note the fact that IU is playing 3 of the top 12 teams in the country.

It’s WAY, WAY too early to make predictions, based on two exhibition games, but……. Trent is going to play a lot more minutes this year than many predicted. Instead of occasional court time I think he will be our 6th or 7th man.

Yes they are mistaken. The IU ticket office lists the Old Dominion game as “not many left” but looking at the seat map there are actually a ton of available seats in sections 102 through 112. I’d try to go to the opener if I lived within a few hours drive but my attendance requires airfare/rental car/tickets/hotel and I’m not spending that much cash for any of the first three games. Have my Illinois tickets and will also try to make the MSU or Wiscy game. Can’t wait!

So….the 2025 Bronco Nagurski defensive player of the year watchlist has been released. 60 players, from 41 different schools are on the list. Georgia leads the way with 4 players on the list while fellow powerhouses Alabama, Texas, Oregon and INDIANA each have 3 players on the list. I love, but admittedly am still not used to, seeing us on lists like this!! The Big Ten has 14 players on this defensive players watch list. The tally by school is: Indiana - 3 (obviously Kamara, Ponds and Fisher) Oregon - 3 OSU - 2 ILL - 2 PSU - 2 Iowa - 1 Minnesota - 1 Of the 11 non-IU BT players on the list IU plays teams that have 10/11 of those players. Can’t wait for the season to start !!

Just curious if you are speculating, or know for sure, that we lost him because of being unwilling to meet his price.

Reading a “pundits” take on our upcoming season. He was largely positive but then made the statement that we were basically lucky because we don’t have OSU or UM on the schedule. HELLO - we have road games at two of the top 5-7 teams in the country, which he didn’t mention. Pissed me off.

They should have attempted to change their name to Kansas or UNC.

I don’t find 10-10 in conference all that exciting but whatever. In any case DD definitely improved upon what he inherited at WV and I hope he does so at IU.

That’s interesting info. I’d find it more comforting if that small WV rotation (which was screwed out of the tourney) had finished better than 19-13 and 10-10 in conference (same conference record as Woody). I’m in the camp that a big would be a nice addition but in any case am excited to see what a bunch of shooters can do on the floor together. Will be interesting, and hopefully fun, to watch.

I was the one being a smart @$$. They never entered the portal, but the last 20 pages of the thread are about them. There's nothing else to talk about though....so it's not a big deal to me. Just thought it was funny. Yep, Neither of them entered the portal which pretty much says that if they get another year they are probably 99% going to IU. I assume they both spoke with DD. I am hoping Leal wins but only plays 5 or so games. That will allow him to participate in his third senior night, then receive a 7th year from the NCAA (because he only played in 5 games) followed by his fourth senior night. A record that might never be broken.

13 conference wins and a sweet 16 would be a hell of a start. 2015-2016 is the last time we won 13 or more conference games (15 that year) and was also the last time we were in the sweet 16. Would love to see 13 and a sweet 16 but there is no way I would bet on it.

That is crazy. No offense to Leal but you really have to question a ranking that shows IU jumping 10 spots nationally by adding a bench guy. Makes zero sense.

Wow it only does he project Mendoza as the 4th overall pick but also as the first QB picked!! That would be awesome for the program/perception/image etc and add yet another “look what I do with QB’s” aspect to Cigs arsenal.

I don’t get it. Are you saying you pay more for bench players if they are “new” but the existing bench players accept making less than market value ?

Why would having a nearly full roster open up $3-4mm for a couple of top guys? It’s not as if the”existing” guys on a roster make next to nothing.

Outside of a very limited number of superstars that is the same with all team sports including pros. As an example TV is paying to broadcast Chicago Bears games because of the Jersey and the fact they are in the NFL. (no different than IU and the NCAA). Put the Bears in USFL league/jerseys and very, very little revenue would be generated.

You totally missed my point ….LOL …which is that I find it hilarious when posts are made along the lines that they “hope” that DD has something in mind for us in the paint. I stated I had zero doubt he has something planned and pointed out that we (internet warriors) clearly know it’s an issue so how in the world wouldn’t DD realize the same thing as it’s so obvious? I’ll add a sarcasm sticker next time.
