Ignoring that we look rather “inconsistent” today….. We need a quality win against a ranked Illinois team and need them to beat Duke today. The Illini are just up 14-13 at the half. Iowa is losing 13-10 at #16 Iowa State at the half. Would also be helpful if Iowa pulled this game out. Iowa’s “new and improved” million dollar + QB threw for 49 yards last week and at the half today is only 10-19 for 48 yards with a pick.

Arch falls out of the top 50 and Mendoza falls to 43rd. Low rankings for the future Heisman winner and #1 draft pick…:)

Illinois game officially a sellout.

That would be cool. We need the Illini to beat Duke, which is definitely not a sure thing. -
A few highlights from the updated SEC, I mean ESPN, PFI Top 25: Prior to this week ESPN had SEC Texas #1 and BT OSU #3. After the OSU win they now have, wait for it, Texas #1 and OSU #3….LOL #4 ACC Clemson lost to highly ranked #9 SEC LSU so ACC Clemson tumbled 17 spots to 21st. In the meantime #8 SEC Alabama lost to unranked 14 point underdog ACC Florida State but only fell 5 spots to #13 while FSU is still not even ranked…LOL 11 of their top 18 teams are from the SEC which probably angers the SEC. Why not 16/18? EDIT..saw the entire ESPN ranking, beyond the top 25 and Indiana is 29th and FSU is 40th !! Bama loses to FSU and only dropped from 8th to 13th while the victor, FSU, is 40th! LOL

It’s ridiculous to jump to conclusions about the upcoming season simply based on one game in which a number of new pieces are being integrated into the system. That being said, if asked if the team exceeded expectations, met expectations or was below expectations it isn’t nutty to say for this ONE game the team was below expectations . It was almost Allenesque to see us give up 75 and 78 yard runs to a QB that we knew liked to run, watch one of our best receivers drop a TD pass that hit him in the hands, see a FG clunk of the crossbar, watch a QB miss receivers and throw into double coverage, observe what seemed like 15-16 plays within 4 yards of the goal line without a TD etc etc. That being said…I totally trust Cig and think/hope that the 2 upcoming scrimmages will give us time to get prepared for Illinois. Keeping my “panic button” in my pocket until seeing what happens vs the Illini.

I paid a lot of money, but it was WELL worth it, for the proprietary Paul Finebaum playoff calculator. Not sure if I can legally share this but, after the Bama loss, the Finebaumator has the Tide going from #8 to #3 in the country. I personally think, since they are member of the SEC, Bama should be #2 after the loss but I trust the Finebaumator.

Go OSU. The anti-IU narrative makes me root against every, single SEC team.

Saban, of course, was pushing the same narrative. They started out with a fairly reasonable tone implying that no one should be penalized in a close game between powerhouses like, as an example, Clemson-LSU. I actually agree with that to a degree. HOWEVER Saban steered that into a blanket “reward a win rather than penalize a loss narrative” which is his way of saying that Bama should not have been penalized for losing to crappy Vandy and crappy Oklahoma. It’s a false narrative to equate Texas losing at top 5 OSU to “let’s not penalize Bama for losing to Vandy”. Really tired of the SEC/ESPN narrative.

Nebraska should thank me.Once I posted the above he promptly completed approximately 6 passes in a row on a successful TD drive …LOL
