Obviously? I don’t think we really know how much we offered, how much other schools offered nor the exact reason Dix and Conwell chose those schools. I agree with your sentiment that the stars need to get paid while the bench dudes, for the most part, make much less.

No difference between a one year deal or 4 year? Really?? It’s a HUGE difference in that a donor might end up signing a 4 year deal with a kid that ends up stinking but would still be stuck with a four year deal. Donors aren’t going to lock-up/ commit 4 years to unproven freshmen and are never going to abandon one year deals as there will always be mid-major guys (or disgruntled P4 players) that pop up out of nowhere.

4 years is never happening as teams/donors will continue to bid on kids that proved themselves over a 2 or 3 year period at other schools.

Probably depends on how much the revenue sharing pool, and tv rights, increases. BYU is allegedly spending 10mm on 2 players ! Duke allegedly paid Flagg 4.8. With all their other Burger Boys it would not surprise me if they were at 12,15+ million. It wasn’t that long ago that a 5* was getting 150,000 under the table and now you can barely get a 3 ppg guy for that.

Not a shocker. As I posted yesterday I’d guess most agents push their guys to take every visit to increase $$ competition. Wouldn’t surprise me if going to Lexington increases his bag by 500k+.

Why? That gives me slight “pause”. Again, it only takes a few more signees, which will happen, to probably make the angst go away.

Yep, I’m definitely not in panic mode, by any stretch, but it’s hard not to notice Buzz Williams, hired after DD, with 8 portal commitments. That being said….everything can change with a few good additions. Just hoping to see them soon. Some can downplay losing Wilkerson, if that’s what happens, but “on paper” he looks like a guy that would really help us..

I agree in theory but I’d guess (guessing) half the 2 year guys leave after a year. Id rather get a guy that hits 44.5% of his threes like Wilkerson. Who knows….Going to UK might be driven by his agent as I wouldn’t be surprised if multiple visits drive up his price by 500k+. Hell, I’d drive to Lexington for 500k. It is what it is these days.

I don’t have an issue with that direction/decision, as the entire “culture” needed to be flushed, but do feel a little bad for Jordy cutting his playing career a couple years short by choosing to join “Woody’s Folly”.

Haven’t been closely following the staff additions. Do the recent staff announcements mean there is no role for Jordy or CC? I’m not one that thinks we need ex-IU guys, just curious if they both are definitely out.

Thanks So to summarize: 1) we most likely are going to get Wilkerson 2) one of our future assistants is completing exit paperwork with his Elite8/FF team 3) another of our assistants is completing exit paperwork with the Celtics (promised to be head coach in waiting) 4) still need a PG, rim protector and depth.

RE: squabbling about projections/guessing where someone is going to commit. These days it’s nearly impossible to know where a kid is going until the papers are signed. If I was a player I could honestly tell those around me that I was going to sign with IU but….all the sudden my agent calls to say that xyz offered an extra $500,000 for next year or perhaps a player that plays my position unexpectedly signs. Maybe those things sway me, maybe not.
