  1. I’m an old guy traditionalist but must admit those uniforms look sharp and I would not mind if we mixed it up with something like that. That being said.....Uniforms are far down my list and I don’t give a rip what we are wearing if 7th-11th in the Big Ten remains our norm. We need to win. I continue, and will continue, to watch every game but my excitement level has gone down as single game wins and losses don’t mean as much since I now assume we are not a true threat to do much (win the BT, go to the Elite 8 etc.). In the past few years the Marquette and Florida State games, as an example, gave me hope for an exciting year but both proved to be fools gold. I enjoy watching teams and individuals improve but in year 4, as opposed to the first 2 years, that enjoyment does not make up for inconsistent effort and middling BT results. My excitement level will rise (no old dude pun intended) if: *We start to win at a level that regularly puts us in the top 3 in the BT, nearly always in the tourney with the occasional years in which we are a threat to go on a run. Hearing that we should not be surprised we lost because teams like Northwestern and Rutgers are so good is a bummer. Some say Archie is boring as the face of the program, and he is, but he will be a lot more charismatic in my eyes if we were in the top 3, rather than 10th/11th, in the conference. *When we field teams that play hard CONSISTENTLY. I want other teams to know they are entering a 40 minute dogfight every time they play us. *When Assembly Hall is once again a house of doom and before games opponents know, down deep, they have little chance of winning. *When the offense matches our improved defense.
  2. IU - 64 PSU - 59. I would be most beneficial to win this game.
  3. Just curious. Do you consider being the smartest poster in history to be a blessing or a curse?
  4. I agree. Not being negative in regards to Lander, and I think he will be a very good player, but he should be a HS senior and is clearly not ready yet.
  5. Northwestern threw us off as they had one big guy go down with an injury and another had foul trouble. We had not prepared for their back-ups, and incredible depth, so how could we have realistically won?? Nothing but bad luck.... on to the next one!!!!
  6. Florida and Miami both go down. From a NY6 bowl perspective this may have been a good day for us.....But then again, who knows?
  7. Yep. We were the ABC game of the week, which was a big deal back then, and a popular media pick to win. We managed to hold Nebraska to 69...LOL... Even after all those years, and all the beers I drank that day, I still remember seeing our entire OL and DL getting moved 5-10 feet every play.
  8. Bummer, but not a surprise. I go back to the days of Corso, the Memorial Stadium Nebraska massacre and Holiday Bowl and do not remember another year in which I enjoyed watching our defense so much. The attacking nature, and schemes, are a thing of beauty. He will be missed.
  9. It was good to see us meet the physical play of Florida. Glad to see that. Refs sucked, we have a lot to clean up but it was a good effort. One of the biggest negatives was the first few trips after we took a 65-62 lead in overtime. Al dribbled, dribbled, dribbled, went 1 on 3 trying to to make something happen and Trace did not get touches. Just a crucial couple of minutes that cost us the W.
  10. Win or lose we are playing hard against a long, very physical team. Some slop but good to see us compete.
  11. Great to see Al seemingly move around normally. When he went down I thought he was looking at surgery or at least a few weeks out.
  12. It varies dramatically by bowl. Last year a higher tier bowl, such as IU in the Gator, paid 5.35mm per team while the playoff games paid around 6mm. Since the BT splits the money among all teams the difference isn’t much. A bowl like the Motor City Bowl, however, only paid out 2mm per team.
  13. Early in the year but I think UNC is going to be a handful by mid-year. They are loaded underneath and their young guards will get better. Illinois has a lot of weapons and Iowa has multiple guys that can stroke it. I can see why they are in the top tier of the Big Ten.
  14. Guest??? Don’t you mean co-anchor? It was unreal how long they allowed him on.
  15. I agree. It is virtually illegal to say this, as an IU grad, but I really liked Hummels game when he played for Turdue and felt bad that he was injury prone.
  16. The challenge is primarily about interesting tv matchups. Even with our “dusty” banners we get prime time matchups vs the premier ACC teams while there are years PU plays Boston College on ESPN the ocho.
  17. Very good point. The fact that all of the East vs West are playing each other diminishes the need for OSU to be in the championship game. They beat either NW or IA and they are still in the playoff.
  18. Bourbon pick: IU — 1,623,423 PU - 10 Official pick: IU - 31 PU - 10
