We need players, and should try something different, so I think we should go after Calapari’s old friend World Wide Wes as our next coach. A stamp of approval is that the Knicks hired him and they rarely make a mistake.

He “resigned” from a job in which they told him he had to go. It was a political-type, keep up appearances, we love each other, “mutually agreed upon” parting of the ways that was in effect a firing.

I agree in that I always liked Matta but in his last two years his teams went to the NIT and then did not make any post season tourney. He basically had a Crean type finish at OSU and many thought he left the program in pretty bad shape (except those that defend the Archie vs Holtman comparison by claiming Holtman was left with a veritable pile of talent and a program with unbelievable momentum).

Hopefully it was at least a 1.75

I can think of four positives: -It was good to see Lander go north-south a few times. -At the end of the game we found a good free throw shooter (unfortunately he is a senior walk-on). -College games only last 40 minutes rather than the 48 in the NBA. -We won’t lose another home game this season.

Kudos to Michigan for realizing they needed a guard and landing grad transfer Smith.

That’s crazy. It will only be year 5. Next year will be his first year without any of the dreaded “Creanians” The players have started to learn the pack line and are going to start learning the offense next year. The train is getting ready to take off and we need to get on board.

They have been great at making us rotate and the ball keeps moving. . An enjoyable offense to watch.

On a positive note the run was only 10-0.

I disagree with you on this one. Lack of consistent effort has been a hallmark of Archie’s teams, he has left left roster spots open when we needed depth, we have had a constant need for shooters, are plagued by scoring droughts, etc etc...Why would that have changed at OSU?

You weren’t alone as the national media was pretty much unanimous in giving us an “A” for the hire. That’s why I don’t blame Glass, like some others do, as he seemingly made a good hire according to those that are paid to pay attention to those things. That being said.... for the 4th year in a row we will not finish over .500 in the conference and have lost 5/6 to Rutgers.....Even Crean had us in the sweet 16 in year four after inheriting nothing....WTF

I agree. One of the players in the documentary mentioned falling to 7th in the BT and how that wasn’t IU basketball but.....7th in the league is now aspirational for us (yes, I know it’s only year 4 and Archie inherited an unbelievably bad situation and dreamed of starting with Kyle Tabor instead of Morgan) but we have inconceivably lost 5 out of 6 to RUTGERS....I’ll admit I can’t get over losing 5/6 to Rutgers. THE IU BASKETBALL PROGRAM has lost 5/6 to Rutgers.

All of you naysayers with “win now” mentality have to remember that after tonight Archie will have already beaten Rutgers one out of the last six games. That was a sweet victory. In spite of inheriting the worst situation in the history of college basketball (ie Juwan Morgan, Robert Johnson etc) he has already managed to roughly stay within 20 of ISU and IUFWXYZ and has almost had a better than .500 season in conference.

Did you guys with the unacceptable “ win now” attitude miss our 3-0 run?? I mean seriously, who could have rationally expected us to beat Rutgers in year 4?? We should celebrate that Archie has already beaten them once in the last 5 game.

Name the last coach of TWO different power 5 programs which literally COULD NOT WAIT until he was gone that went on to do great things at his third power 5 opportunity.

I assume we will read, at some point, about our Kenpom improvement and I have an idea. We should suggest to the administration that we hang a Kenpom banner next to the ‘87 Championship banner. Instead of the large “NCAA” the banner would have a huge “KENPOM” with each years data. We could bring back the ‘76 team for the banner raising. Would be awesome.

My disappointment is picking us to win in the prediction league. I told myself that Archie’s IU teams have nearly always laid an egg when there is a “win this and they are in” game but I picked us to win anyway.
