Candidate Thread: Chris Beard (Texas Tech)
DChoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Maybe, we might find out for sure. Based on our last couple of searches I’m not sure how many coaches are valuing the history, recruiting upside, etc. I would like to think that’s the case but not so sure anymore. -
Candidate Thread: Chris Beard (Texas Tech)

Who knows but I doubt that even an emotional visit would make a Texan like Beard decide he wants to move to Bloomington IN. I have no idea but with all of his Texas ties I would guess he will stay put and take over at his alma mater once Smart is inevitably fired. I think we are dreaming if we think we are going to land him. -
Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

Ha, My wife is surprised that I admitted dreaming about a man two nights in a row. (for the Seinfeld fans....”not that there is anything wrong with that”). -
Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

FYI, I was joking because the Saban thing was such a softball. All things equal I would also prefer a guy like Brad that grew up, and loved, the IU/Knight/passionate years. -

My brother is also concerned about expectations and asked me how I thought the fans would react if Brad lost to Northwestern at home, as an example, halfway through his third season. I told him I would be ok with that loss because I have very realistic expectations and besides...I assume that half way through his third season he would already have 2 natty’s, and the loss would just drop his record to 86-1, so I’d be ok with a mis-step. -

I’d say Saban worked out relatively well for not being an Alabama guy. -

Ha There is a reason he has never been photographed sitting down. -
Nickname for I. Thomas
-
Matta has a great run at OSU, no doubt, but aside from the health issues in his last two years OSU went to the NIT and then did not make either tourney the following year. Pretty poor 2 year finish.
-
If I was a prominent/successful head coach I’d be hesitant (as in no way in hell) to take a job in which the AD forces an assistant on me.
-
With the extra year Covid-rule there will probably be more player movement than we have ever seen. I don’t know if we really have a shot at Stevens but if we do get him we are going to land some really good transfers. Top, top transfers will want to play for Brad. Let’s hope.......
-
Next Nick Saban? I would be VERY disappointed if Stevens turned out to be the next Saban as he has only won 6 nattys at Alabama. Surely Brad is better than that.
-
I do not know the facts but would guess that the donors also are paying over time which means there would not be any excess funds if Archie gets a new job, which I assume he will.

Strong rumor that a private jet has been sent to pick up Pat Knight.
-
YES. 100%. He also said we would have won 5 more games if we consistently played with effort...as many of us have been saying. Also said he did not watch a single complete game this year because of how we play. It will not get better. Time for a change.
-
What I also found interesting (because it backs up what I have said in the past...lol) is Hartman saying we would have won 5 more games if we just played hard more consistently. I can’t understand why some still pushback when inconsistent effort is mentioned. He also mentions how much Buckley helped him with his shot and Leary ran with that saying our guys have not improved and that he can see our shooting flaws from a mile away. They questioned the lack of player development and Leary basically said..who cares if Leal shoots a ton of shots after games if he is just repeating/practicing a shooting form that has issues. These guys need coaching. Just kind of reinforces what many of us suspected.

Game Thread: Indiana Hoosiers vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights
DChoosier replied to IUc2016's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Thanks for the link. Definitely looks like he is moving on. If he is eligible for a 5th year somewhere else it will be interesting to see if he ends up at another school (would guess that Smiths move to Arkansas, and being a projected 3 seed this year, could influence him to try a change of scenery). Whatever he does, wish him the best. -
Ha, That is funny. It is even more funny/puzzling (IT WAS GREAT) that Davis beat Coach K two games prior to the Okie game.
-
Yes, With this years unusual transfer and eligibility rules this could potentially be one of the best times EVER to make a coaching change. The right coach could possibly get some impact guys quickly while I highly doubt “dead man walking” Archie will be able attract quality transfers.
-
I’m an “older folk” that would not be happy. Loved him as a player but, aside from his other issues, name a successful power 5 coach that was run out of town from two previous power 5 jobs. I can’t think of anyone.

Prediction League RESULTS Thread
DChoosier replied to Str8Hoosiers's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Thanks to Str8Hoosiers for his work in running the prediction league and congratulations to the Old Fart for his victory. As a fellow AARP member I am proud of his achievement. In what is probably an indictment of my life I must admit that coming in third might be the greatest accomplishment of my life (no offense to my wife and kids) and I will deeply cherish the third place finish until at least Monday. -
Game Thread: Indiana Hoosiers vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights
DChoosier replied to IUc2016's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Could you please clarify. Did Archie say the above after his first season at IU or after his second season at IU or after his third season at IU or was it after his fourth season at IU? Those statements could have been made after every one of his seasons. If he is around for a fifth season I’ll take a wild guess and predict he will say the same things after year 5. -

We could hang this next to our “Kenpom improvement” banner. Gets us up to banner 7. -

Two things: -You will probably find this shocking but we went through a scoring drought! Scored zero (0) buckets in the last 10 minutes. Thankfully the clock ran out and ended the drought. -During the last timeout I zoomed in on Archie and am pretty sure he was looking at Zillow.
