  1. I’m not sure but I doubt an associate AD (Matt) will be a recruiter, Looking forward to seeing the entire staff as the assistants will be critical, especially because Woody has never recruited. Who knows....it may become apparent that one of the assistants is a coach in waiting and this may be a longer term plan than we currently realize.
  2. Yes...and/or it could be the assistant saying we have put a lot of work into our tourney success and I would prefer to delay the announcement as long as we are still in the tourney
  3. Aside from everything you mention I think he would be a great fit. Especially when I heard today “they haven’t made a basket in 10 and a half minutes”. I’m thinking 8 years, 80 million.
  4. Ha, agree... And the last couple of years you would have to add IA, OSU, PU and (excuse me while I puke) Rutgers.
  5. I agree 100% but even more so.........I’m sooooo tired of us not even being in the tourney or in conference contention. Please get this right Scott D.
  6. I was at IU when that happened and many of us sort of chuckled when we saw the names of the 3 players that got tossed vs the 5 that were put on Knight suspension. If you saw the stats of the 8 players involved it would be easy to pick out, without seeing the names, the 3 that got booted. On the other hand it sounds as though many of the Sampson players did not go to class often. Knight absolutely did not tolerate that.
  7. Once I heard “Loyola has made one basket in 10 1/2 minutes” I realized that Moser might indeed be able to continue IU’s momentum.
  8. It is crazy. Time flies. Fife 19 years ago, Lewis 22 years ago, Alford 34 years ago, Woodson 41 years ago.....
  9. The guys Dan cries and whines about were at IU 20,30,40 years ago. UK players stuck around back then and UNC may or may not have had classes back then.
  10. I agree and hope he is not the choice. It’s crazy how some guys suddenly become really “hot” after winning one or two tourney games.
  11. I’m all for having IU guys part of the program but Dan goes on and on and on about former players being rubbed the wrong way etc. When UK hired Cal do you think the AD was trembling in fear wondering what former players like Jack Givens or Kyle Macy thought about the hire? Will UNC call in Sean May and James Worthy to get their advice/approval for Roy’s replacement hire? I appreciate the former players hard work, what they did for the program and would like them to be fully embraced by the program (and vice versa) but with all due respect they should not be in the hiring process and I don’t think a guy that played before the current kids were born somehow inspires young players (unless it is a Michael Jordan/Magic Johnson kind of guy). Our team “sleep-walked” through more than one game over the last 4 years and seeing Todd Jadlow at practice, as an example, would not have changed that.
  12. That makes sense on paper but in today’s “coaches market” would any hot coach accept those terms if other schools aren’t imposing those terms?
  13. We weren’t good last year but the positive is ...LOL..that when you finish 10th 2 years in a row there is not much farther to fall.
  14. You imply we are nuts but we assume his first loss will be in year three so he will have earned a little leeway.
  15. Refs are horrible. It is criminal that the BT, with all the tv money sloshing around, doesn’t have full time refs. Style of play does not appeal to a lot of kids (UM might help change that). ELITE players. I looked at the top 25 players, according to the RSCI, in 2017,2018,2019,2020. 4 years of top 25 kids = 100 recruits and the entire BT conference landed three of the 100 (Romeo was one of the three). Tennessee had 2 top 25 players just in 2020 and the entire BT only landed 3 in 4 years while the ACC landed 28.... That is really, really bad and says something. Style of play, the conference doesn’t cheat as much? Something is off.
  16. A lot of guys have floundered when they inherited a good foundation. Howard is doing well and primarily because of players that have only been in his program. Let’s see how next year goes but I think the “best program in the BT” crown is potentially on the verge of moving from East Lansing to Ann Arbor.
  17. He didn’t start with nothing but Howard has transformed the roster. With Livers out three of his top 5 players are in their first year at Michigan (I.e. they were not “gifted” to him) and a fourth is only in his second year (has only played for Howard). That’s 4/5 of the top guys that have only been with the program during the Howard tenure. His accomplishments sometimes seem to get downplayed (he inherited a lot, Phil Martelli is the real coach etc. etc) but I give the guy a TON of credit. He needed front and backcourt guys and he brought in two impactful transfers and his leading scorer is a freshman. We sat on open scholarships and did not have a freshman anywhere close to impactful as Dickinson. He is the “CEO” and filled position needs, hired good assistants, has a fun team to watch, put in time as a NBA assistant learning from a good coach and has the number one class in the country, with two 5-stars and three 4-stars, coming. Time will tell but so far he has the program rolling.
  18. Agree. I liked, and enjoyed, reading what they were hearing and hope they continue to share whatever is swirling around.. Not for a second did I think there was a credibility issue, when the Brad signing did not happen, as people change their minds and sometimes things just don’t work out. A great example I always remember is Jarred Jeffries saying he went to bed 100% positive he was going to commit to Duke the next day but then switched to IU. “Stuff” happens.
  19. Ha. “We” did not chew up Archie and spit him out. He made well over 20mm and delivered a disappointing, historically terrible run. A number of coaches hired when he was, and after, have done better, he never brought his alleged tough minded “brand” to the program, recruiting stalled, his offense was horrific, he had glaring needs but left scholarships open, his players seemingly had little affinity for him, the only players that made it to the tourney did it by transferring to other schools, the year 4 issues were mostly the same as the year 1 issues and he began his tenure by losing at home to Indiana State and ended it by going scoreless for the last 10 minutes of his tenure....a fitting finish. We fired Davis and Crean and they were both much, much more successful than Archie.
  20. The word is that Kessler has always dreamed of playing for Mike Woodson.
  21. I think most, including me, are talking about Lewis as an assistant....Not handing him the keys.
  22. It’s unreal how often bad shots are taken when a guy dribbles the leather off the ball, then makes a move with 3 seconds to go followed by a wild @$$ shot.
  23. If the TT player was wearing a Duke jersey there is a 110% chance a foul would have been called on Smith. He bodied the guy big-time.
  24. I feel bad for Smith. If he would have stayed with Archie in March he would have had more time to keep up on his studies, rest and maybe go on spring break.
  25. Aren’t we all ? Also....I really like the idea of him as an assistant at IU.
