My disappointment is picking us to win in the prediction league. I told myself that Archie’s IU teams have nearly always laid an egg when there is a “win this and they are in” game but I picked us to win anyway.

IU - 72 MSU - 67

This line literally made me laugh out loud... “I'll call a spade a spade. You can either take it or you can't.” This is a basketball forum, not some kind of life or death situation. Just funny stuff.

It is sort of ironic that the Big Ten teams with the highest projected seeds are: 1seed Michigan (second year coach) 1seed OSU (4th year) 2 seed IL (4th year)

Lander missed but it was good to see him go to the rim.

For those that refuse to see improvement, Last 2 games we had 1 basket in the first 7 minutes, Today we had 2(TWO) baskets in the first 7 minutes!!! A 100% improvement!!!!!

Not sure if it’s lingering effects of his injuries, and/or a lack of confidence, but it’s too bad as he seems like a really good kid. Early in his freshman year I thought he would be a second team BT type of player his junior year and first team his senior.

That is a weird stat. 5-1 vs top 10 teams since 2019 but since the beginning of 2019 we are 21-29 in regular season conference games. You’d think a team that good against the top 10 would have a conference record around 35-15 or so during that time frame. In any case....a win today would be huge but a loss really shouldn’t have much of an impact if we take care of business in the upcoming games.

I agree. Losing to Northwestern would have looked bad, from a tourney perspective, but losing to #4 team on the road won’t cause tourney damage (but would obviously help our resume). Split the last 6 and we are a shoo-in for the dance.

The culture of an organization/team starts from the top and something has not been clicking for 3 1/2 years. That being said, I still think we get the W today.

IU 67 “Back in the day” easy to beat NW - 63

“On paper” the next four games should give us a good chance to solidify a tourney bid. Following up a win against a top 10 team with a good effort against NW would be good to see.

When Franklin was dribbling I was yelling “top long” “too long” followed by “nice shot” lol

I can see why Rob would be unhappy. You would expect him to be rewarded for his 0-0-0 box score last game.

It’s only 7 minutes of game time and you guys are acting like we haven’t made a basket but we did make one.

IOWA - 81 IU - 73

I agree that Archie will land somewhere decent but in Creans case the hiring committee at the football school (Georgia) was at least able to tell themselves that he won the Big Ten 2 of his last 5 years. What would that same committee think in regards to Archie’s power 5 results? His best finish was 9-9 in conference with all Crean players? Hey, at least he has settled into a consistent 8th-10th in the Big Ten? There isn’t a whole lot there.

Illinois - 71 IU - 66

I’m not sure about “turning up the heat“ down the stretch. Last year we went 1-3 in our last 4 conference games. From 2/1 forward we were 4-6 in conference (plus lost the last two games in January). Hopefully that’s not our new definition of a “run”. EDIT: and two years ago, from today’s date 1/25 and going forward, we were 5-7 in conference (and lost all 5 games previous to that). On the positive side we did win the last 4 in a row but then inexplicably slept-walked through the OSU BTT game which was widely considered to be a play-in game for the NCAA tourney. I hope we turn it up down the stretch this year but don’t think the previous years are proof that will happen. We will see.
