For a little while in the 3rd it seemed as though the IU players were already talking about Gameday next week.

Are our two OL out due to Covid or injured?

RE: Maryland vs OSU cancelled. I was on the cautious side of the “Covid continuum” but once the BT decided to play I did not, and never will, understand why they put together a schedule with zero slack to make up games that would inevitably be cancelled. Once the decision to play was made they could have easily started one or two weeks earlier, allowing for open dates, in order to be able to make up games. Really dumb.

I stated that this has been the best 3 game stretch I ever remember (I was at IU in the ‘70’s) so my intent is not to undersell what is happening. That being said, in the pre-season coaches poll PSU was 7th and UM was 15th and they are now a combined 1-5 which seems to point to them being overrated. Not saying they are horrible, or that the wins are not great, but do you think PSU and UM will end up the year meeting their pre-season expectations? Like you I am enjoying the ride and can’t wait for Saturday as we owe MSU a ton of payback. Would love to sweep the Michigan schools.

We also have been very close, including ot losses, vs UM in the last 10 years. I took my family to Bloomington for the 2010 (I think) Denard led UM game that IU would have won if we had even a below average D. Unfortunately he inevitably led them to an end of game, 90 or so yard drive, to win. I appreciated our improvement in close loses like that but 0-1 was still 0-1 in the record book. Really, really thrilled we have gotten over the hump.

It is crazy to call it nearly 50-50. I’d say it’s a 90% chance OSU wins and it is very clear that one team in the league is waaaayyyyy above the other 13. I will FOREVER love that we beat PSU and UM in the same year but they were both obviously overrated. That being said, we beat two blue bloods absolutely loaded with 4 star players. I can’t remember a better 3 game stretch for IU football, ever. Let’s take care of business vs MSU!!

Agree with you from a “big picture” perspective. Back in the day having J. Johnson thrown out or losing a starting DL, OL, RB, LB might have been fatal. Our depth now allows us to overcome those challenges. When it comes to QB however......Tuttle might be the “real deal” but I would have been nervous as hell to have him debut in the UM game. Penix is the one guy I think that we absolutely cannot afford to lose. Would be nice if we happen to run up the score against someone so that Tuttle could get some reps.

Yep, that’s why I think he will be fired rather than resign. He seems to know it is over but quitting would be giving up over 8mm next year.....doubt he does that.

The odds that JH is out at Michigan after this season? I would guess 90%.

Loved seeing NB lose to Northwestern.

Although I have picked IU to win all three games, in our prediction thread, there is no way that I looked at our schedule and really thought we would be 3-0 with wins over PSU and UM. So glad to be wrong and in my decades of watching IU I don’t remember more than maybe a team or 2, during the Mallory years, that looked like they “belonged” with the better teams (sans OSU) like this team does. We scared OSU and UM in the Wilson years but those were teams with Swiss cheese defenses that had to out score people and hope for some fluke plays. We have a complete team now. Can’t wait for next week.

I’m freaking out with Tennessee flashbacks. Hold them on this drive and we can flip the momentum but so far UM and IU both look completely different in the second half vs the first half.

Just hope we don’t go into “play to not lose” mode. We need a score here.

I’m normally 100% against giving guys playing time to make them happy but did not like seeing James get one carry last week. He seems to be very talented.
