I don't think firing him is a bad look. I mean, the past four seasons he has finished 8th, 7th, 1st, 10th. Which one is the aberration? Sure he won the conference last year but he followed it up with his worst season since 2010-2011. We aren't firing him just because of one bad season. He has demonstrated an inability to put together a stable, consistent program. Add in his recruiting woes and I think it's understandable why we're firing him. His performance would get him fired at a number of schools. The media's gonna media but I don't think we should be worried about it being a bad look. Coaching candidates will realize that he was fired for his body of work and not this one season.

If Crean really is struggling to find a new job then that should tell Glass all he needs to know. I don't get why the "soft landing" is so important. Sure, help the guy out if you can, but it shouldn't impact Glass's decision about firing him. We've given him $20+ million I think he'll be fine.

If Glass doesn't fire Crean then McRobbie needs to come in and throw both of them out. It's as simple as that.
-
Did they say why they think DG is gone? If we have a new coach he's likely the starting pg averaging 30 minutes a night. I can't see him transferring to a better opportunity than that.
-
De'ron, DG and Morgan are the three that I think we absolutely need back next year. OG, JBJ and TB will likely all be gone (TB probably won't be happy about where he ends up). There will be plenty of playing time to be earned so I don't see many transfers unless some guys just can't stand it here.
-
Ugh how hard is it for Glass to say "Hey Billy, heres $50 million. Just make sure you're here by Hoosier Hysteria." I understand Glass's apprehension though since Donavon has backed out of a coaching deal before.

I don't think you're going to consistently compete at a high level without one-and-done talent these days. I don't want us slipping these kids envelopes of Benjamins under the table, but I want us to land some of them. Even the best coaches need talent.

I'm starting to like the idea of Alford a lot. I know that if he hadn't played for IU we wouldn't even think about him as a candidate, but I think that the fact he did play at IU is very significant. He knows what it's like to play for IU at its very best. The other candidates all get that IU has a great tradition, but I don't think they get it like Alford does. He played in front of 17,000 screaming Assembly Hall fans for 4 years. If the star of our last championship was able to come in and end a 30+ year drought to hang up our 6th banner? He would become the biggest legend in Indiana basketball history. Step aside, Bobby. I could see something awakening inside him as a coach if he was given the opportunity to coach at IU. He's not my top choice, but I would feel excited about IU basketball if he was our next coach.

Yeah it was just a really strange interview to listen to. I bet ABC is pissed that their ratings tonight are going to suck now lol.

I mean, he called him "massa". That word has a pretty negative connotation. When you hear it slavery is the first thing to come to mind. He said some other stupid stuff too. Even if that's not what he meant he knows that's how people are going to take it.
-
So Andre Iguodala called his coach a slave master last night... The Warriors are imploding right now and I'm loving it. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fanragsports.com/now/watch-andre-iguodala-reacts-finding-hell-resting-spurs/amp/

2017 NIT Selection Show - ESPNU 8:30pm
Hoosierfan2017 replied to hoosierdogg's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I know some were saying this before the Northwestern game, and now we've got a second chance at it with a first round home NIT game. Glass should announce Crean's departure before the game and give the fans a chance to send him off. It's unorthodox but it's better than them playing in front of a few thousand disinterested fans. It would be good for everyone involved. -
2017 NIT Selection Show - ESPNU 8:30pm

I hope the freshmen get a lot of run during the NIT. It doesn't matter and it would give them some good experience. -
Given what we know about what actually happened it was definitely an overboard punishment. Kid basically got thrown off the team for having some booze on him.

I think there will be a lot of change this offseason. There should be good times ahead for us. I feel not wanting to watch games with fans from other teams so hard. I had to watch the NBA finals alone in my room last summer because my roommates were all rooting for Golden State. I can't handle it lol.
-
Hope there are no hard feelings man. I tried to keep it out of the game threads as much as possible but I know I've failed at it. Just hard for me to keep it all separated. If he's back next year I won't waste the time/energy hoping for L's every game. I'll accept the situation and find another way to spend my time.

This is the Harry Giles I've been waiting for.

And that's a wrap. Good luck in Columbia Tommy.

Bobby Knight "I Hope they're all dead" comments

Do you think it's never okay or just not okay in situations like this?
