There hasn't been a power 5 coach fired a year after winning their conference because they don't turn around and lay eggs the next year like Crean has. Twice. We're 13-22 in the conference the two years after Big 10 championships. Idk how they can look past the inconsistencies and act like they don't matter. I don't want a coach that makes us relevant only 1 out of every 3-4 years.

Sounds like the Crimson Quarry Crean fanboys are riding with Crean till the bitter end. Their content has been laughable this season, especially since Big 10 play started. There's nothing unprecedented about firing a guy who has finished in the top 4 in his conference 2/9 years, and who has finished in the bottom half of the conference more often than he has the top half. He's heading into his 3rd rebuild in less than a decade. I would argue that it would be more unprecedented for a blue blood program to keep a coach that has been as mediocre as Crean has been.

Count me in on the young coach train. If we can't get Donovan or Bennett then I want youth. We would get 10-15 years out of guys like Archie Miller or Chris Collins before they're the same age as Marshall is right now. Both of them played high-level college basketball so they have that feel for the game that someone like Crean lacks.

Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Billy Donovan (OKC Thunder)

I'm expecting down years. Every school has them, even Kentucky and Duke. I'm just expecting higher highs and not as low of lows under our next coach. -
Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Billy Donovan (OKC Thunder)

Donovan could put Ken Nunn on the coaching staff for all I care. I'm not worried at all about him bringing in quality assistants. -
He's leaving the school? I thought medical hardships let you keep your scholarship after you get a career ending injury.

IUFB Offseason Updates
Hoosierfan2017 replied to ThompsonHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
This is a great hire, right? Idk about his coaching abilities but I remember watching him ball out in college. He'll be able to walk into kids' living rooms and be like "hey I'm Michigan's all-time leading rusher, come learn from me." -
Because it would be a really dumb thing to troll about and would only lead to him getting in trouble. I would hope that he has enough self-awareness to realize that, as a football player, trolling about the basketball coach getting fired would be a bad idea. He only has 1500 followers and the tweet didn't get much engagement, so it's not like it blew up and was getting attention from the media. He could've just deleted it and no one would've paid much attention to it. Coming out and saying he was just joking makes me think someone in power got in his ear about it. I don't know if I believe everything he said regarding Billy D being hired and all of that, but I do think he knows some info about the situation that he wasn't supposed to share.

Either Belden is lacking upstairs or he got ripped into and he's covering his butt. The latter definitely seems more likely.

Bob Knight Returns to Bloomington,IN on March 30th
Hoosierfan2017 replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Knight is who he is. I don't think it's fair to judge him by today's societal norms. I don't mean that in a "today's generation is full of softies" way, but just that he's from a much different era than the one we're in now. He's a product of his upbringing. I don't blame him for not wanting to come back to IU. He probably feels like the university stabbed him in the back and that's a grudge I imagine he'll take with him to the grave. He delivered 3 banners and made IU a blue blood. He's already done plenty for the fans. -
I was wondering the same thing. No idea.

Did he do it all last year too? This season feels like it has been going on for forever so I don't remember much from last season. -

Bryant just doesn't know how to toe the line between being passionate and being a crybaby. I like that he cares. I'm not a big fan of his game but I really do appreciate the fact he actually gives a crap. I just wish he could keep his composure when things aren't going his way. -
They gave up their depth to bring in KD. Bogut was a big piece for them last year and him being hurt the last few games in the finals really helped the Cavs. He rocks dudes with his illegal screens. They're obviously still the favorites in the West but I think a few teams out there smell blood now. This is the first time the Warriors have really faced adversity so it'll be interesting to see how they handle it.

Golden State might be vulnerable now with Durant out.

Very true. There seems to be several good options out there, it's up to Glass to land one of them. At the very least I'm hoping for a guy that coaches a watchable style of basketball.

I finally feel confident that Crean's gone after this season. Good times are ahead of us at last.

Oh I was just talking about this year's team lol. He's definitely been a failure at holding players accountable during his entire tenure. Slaps on the wrists for DUIs, players failing multiple drug tests, no discipline for poor play. It's been a joke. Thankfully it should be ending very soon -

He's a few months late when it comes to getting on guys. I would be surprised if there are any players who aren't tuning him out at this point. -

The thought of him roaming the IU sideline is the only thing getting me through this dumpster fire. On a sidenote, Purdue has some UGLY fans.
