  1. Thought the same thing when I was watching the Clemson game. DJ had 17 tds to 2 ints going into today’s game and they bench him for a bad 2.5 quarters. Our QB won’t get benched no matter how bad he plays.
  2. Two more seasons of Allen then. Wtf was Dolson doing during those negotiations?
  3. Because losing is in IUFB’s DNA. First program to 700 losses. Good luck finding donors willing to pay $25 million to buy him out. IU basketball at least can be a national program. There’s hope with buying our basketball coach out. There’s none of that with IUFB.
  4. I mean there’s a big difference between IUBB and IUFB and the levels of support among fans/alums. And isn’t Allen’s buyout like 3x as much as Archie’s?
  5. Year 6. We’re a dumpster fire. He’s done. The program will remain in free fall until he’s gone. And yes, I’m aware that he won’t be fired because of his insane buyout. But his performance warrants it.
  6. Thought about going to this game before the season because it’s a 45 minute drive, but this team just isn’t worth spending money on.
  7. If Tuttle played this year it’d probably look similar to when he played last year. I don’t think he’s very good, but I don’t think he’s as bad as he looked last year either. We have a bad offensive line, mediocre receivers, and a nonexistent run game. Even talented quarterbacks would struggle in this situation. I wouldn’t be opposed to trying out Dexter Williams, though, because he’s mobile. What do we have to lose at this point?
  8. If you’d read a bit you’d see he’s not leaving mid season. https://www.si.com/college/indiana/football/breaking-indiana-hoosiers-quarterback-jack-tuttle-enters-transfer-portal-for-2023-will-stay-with-hoosiers-through-sea
  9. Don’t blame him. He’s been bad when he’s played, but every IU QB has looked bad the past two years. Hard to tell how much is their ability and how much is our team just being terrible.
  10. Sounds like IU had the squad to match up with Duke that year. We did the last couple of times we played UK too. Lots of time between now And whenever this starts back up. Plenty of time to bring in some dudes. Good showings in national games like this would do a lot of good for the program’s momentum.
  11. Man that IU v. Duke matchup during Romeo’s year here… Woof. Hope we’ve got the squad to matchup with UK when this thing starts up again.
  12. He sucked last season. But it’s now clear that it was because your guy Tom Allen utter failed to put anything resembling a P5 team around him.
  13. Whenever they hire a new coach, they can’t have a fear about the guy “leaving us for something better if he succeeds.” In IU’s storied football history, hoe many times has that happened? People gushed and gushed about how great CTA is because he wouldn’t leave IU if he succeeded, but then the AD gave him a monstrous buyout anyway. Hire the best coach you can find. If he leaves, he leaves. And for the love of god. whatever you do, don’t hire the guy down the hall with no head coaching experience beyond the high school level.
  14. And with the transfer portal, anyone capable of changing that mentality can just flee this sinking ship in the offseason. If you’re Dasan McCullough, why would you stick around next year when a whole host of legitimate programs would take you?
  15. Can we revive my Fire Tom Allen thread? I know it won’t happen anytime soon because of the terrible buyout we inflicted upon ourselves, but a guy can dream. It’s year 6 and the program is a disaster. 1-12 in the conference between this year and last. Nonexistent skill players. A defense that gets carved up by a backup qb. The problem will be in a very ugly place by the time we’re able to fire him.
  16. Wilson was a big meanie so they went with the lovely dovey LEO guy instead of finding a competent coach.
  17. 32 carries for 36 yards tonight Lmfao.
  18. Gonna be a rough few years until Allen’s buyout goes down enough for us to fire him.
  19. Must really be upset about the Hiller departure.
  20. Bates was really not great last season. He could make big improvements this season but we’re firmly in “wait and see” mode right now regarding him. Cupps and Newton are good players to round out a class. Not the only two guys in a class that has huge holes to fill.
  21. NIL is why I don’t feel good about relying on the transfer portal. We got outbid last offseason. Have we made the adjustments we’ll need to make to avoid that this upcoming offseason? The 2023 class suggests that we haven’t.
  22. It’s hard for me to say at this point. In the NBA he was pretty mediocre. He wasn’t put in the best positions to win in the NBA, but given the way the NBA recycles coaches, the fact he didn’t get another HC job there after the Knicks fired him speaks to his HC abilities at that level. In college, I’d say he’s at least average. He got IU back to the tournament which was good. I had issues with some of his coaching decisions, though, and the team had many of the same issues it had under Archie. I especially hated his substitution patterns. This year should give us more insight into his college coaching abilities. He has a season under his belt and he has a better team.
  23. I use Kentucky because they’ve had better results than all those teams except probably Villanova. Nova 2 titles to their 1, but UK has more final fours and elite eights. UVA has done very well by their standards but they only have 2 elite eights + 1 sweet 16 since 1995. I find the Calipari way more obtainable than the Villanova way because I believe it’s easier to find a Calipari-tier coach than it is a Jay Wright-tier coach. I.e., I believe the good coach + elite recruiting combination is more obtainable than the elite coach + good recruiting. Even an average coach like Sean Miller can have success with elite talent. We disagree on how good of a coach Mike Woodson is, but I think he’s good enough that he can win with elite talent. I’m fine with IU doing what it has to do to get that talent, but I understand that others aren’t as comfortable with that.
  24. Because Crean was very inconsistent and he had lost all his recruiting momentum. In his last four seasons he went 17-15 (T-8th); 20-14 (T-7th); 27-8 (1st); and 18-16 (T-10th). The following season was projecting to look even worse as his incoming recruiting class was very meh. Winning the NC isn’t everything, but you still have to do some winning. Crean had stopped winning.
